On the Verge - Deadly E.M.P. Situation - Project A119

In 1958 the United States came up with a plan to detonate a nuclear bomb on the Moon, but why, 
The reason they gave was to show us earthlings how strong the Americans had come in such a short period of time and the flash would have been visible from the Earth, but get this. 
The project was cancelled because of Russian aggression in the Space race and the actual outcome of such an experiment could have altered the Moon beyond comprehension.
Wait till you hear this.
The signing of the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty in 1963 and the Outer Space Treaty in 1967 prevented future exploration of the concept of detonating a nuclear device on the Moon. By this time both the United States and the Soviet Union had performed several high-altitude nuclear explosions
The existence of Project A119 remained largely secret until the mid-1990s, when writer Keay Davidson discovered the story while researching the life of Carl Sagan for a biography. 
Sagan’s involvement with the project was apparent from his application for an academic scholarship at the University of California, Berkeley’s Miller Institute in 1959. In the application, Sagan gave details of the project research, which Davidson felt constituted a violation of national security
So apart from trying to actually get into Space and eventually reach the Moon the two Super powers were also pondering the outcome of the consequences of detonating a nuclear bomb in Space.
What they discovered is that this stunt could create an Electric magnetic pulse on the Earth and fry our communication and electric systems to a pulp.
The Van allen belt that surrounds our Earth and held in place with our magnetic poles would effectively reflect a Nuclear blast back at the Earth with 100 times the original force creating either a magnificent Aurora (If the atmosphere could stand it) or a complete E.M.P Failure on Earth and effectively send us back to the stone age.
Crazy right!
Even high altitude tests that were carried out over the Pacific caused black out’s all over the U.S stretching as far and wide as Hawaii and Japan, so, the testing was banned for obvious reasons.
Today, if North Korea had the capability to send a nuclear rocket into Space, detonate it near the Western coast of America, the EMP would disable the entire region from Canada to Brazil. That is just frightening, let’s just hope he does not know about this type of technology as long as he remains the World’s most Mental leader, well, Maybe, Second most Mental!

But seriously this type of attack is more dangerous than a direct nuclear hit and could even kill 90% of the population within a year because of our reliability on Satellites and the Electrical grid. We would be highly reliant on Farm crops and that would lead to Hunger and starvation.
We would be on our knees but you remember that old saying, ‘i would rather die on my feet than live on my knees’ we are talking global retaliation in this scenario guys.
So basically, detonating a Nuke in Space would cause much more highly significant damage in the aftermath than actually taking a direct hit from a Tsar bomb. Doesn’t that just stun you for word’s.
Let’s just hope the Outer Space Nuclear Treaty ban holds firm with the Superpowers of the World or we are all doomed.
