Society Has Become Seriously Brutish

I marvel at how quickly society has become so base. When I was growing up (I’m 62), you rarely heard swear words in public. Now, the F-word/bomb is ever-present and we even hear it on mainstream television.

Recently, one of the notorious players on the US women’s soccer team gave her victory speech and it included the F-word as a matter of fact. People wrongly believe that the use of this word makes them sound intelligent, but in reality, it simply makes them sound brash and uneducated. Anyone can swear. Anyone can use swear words in place of intelligent speech.

One of things this particular soccer player mentioned is that she’ll go to DC and have a “substantive conversation” with anyone that thinks as she does. This is patently absurd. That does not constitute a “substantive conversation.” It defines an echo chamber where all the views shared are exactly alike.

This is the Left today and they still control the public dialogue because they have the microphone. They have succeeded in creating the impression that the USA is a terrible country and needs an overhaul. This has literally become mainstream dogma and anyone who supports this country is labeled a bigot, racist or white supremacist.

Adolph Hitler said many things. He did many things, including killing over 6 million Jews, though of course, even today, some deny that he did. The Nazis, under Hitler’s command, also burned books. They literally commanded people to turn in their guns, promising that they (the government) would protect them.

Hitler also worked with Muslims and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. Once he gained absolute power, the reality of his evil took root. He was quoted as saying, “I have issued the command and anyone who utters but one word of criticism executed by firing squad…”

Because guns were removed from society, who had power to go against him? You’d be paying with your life. There are also historical photos and articles referencing them that prove how Hitler used Islam and its Muslim soldiers to advance the Nazi cause.

We are watching history repeat itself. Islam has nearly completely taken over parts of the UK and other European nations. They come in as “immigrants” seeking “asylum” because of their war-torn countries; war-torn because of how other countries like the USA under Clinton, Bush and Obama did whatever they could to create strife in places like Libya, North Africa (including Egypt), and the continued strife and upheaval in the Middle East.

These “immigrants” move into another “western” country and appear to simply need help. However, it isn’t long before their numbers grow enough to give them power. Once they have the start of power, they begin to cry foul at the laws of their newly adopted country. They begin to claim that their religion of Islam does not allow them to participate or assimilate. They effectively become the Trojan horse that begins to take over a country from within.

This is what is happening today as we see numerous Muslims elected to Congress and who, almost immediately, begin tearing down the fabric of the United States.

While this is happening, we have today’s “Brown Shirts,” AntiFa. They are doing exactly what Hitler’s Brown Shirts of his day did. They attack anyone who speaks a word of dissent against what they (AntiFa) are trying to accomplish.

The apparent leader of the US soccer team proves she only wants to have discussions with those who think like her. This is the Left and what they do to try to turn the tide in favor of their Leftist “ideals.” Since the mainstream media is clearly not interested in free discussion or fair play, they go along with her and those who think as she does and prop her up. They’ve done this with other puppets like David Hogg and will continue to find people they can use to further their own agenda. When they are done with these people, they’ll move onto someone else as there appears to be a never-ending supply of useless eaters who want fame and fortune at any cost.

But if we consider how base many in society have become, the words of Jude, Paul and Peter perfectly categorize them. Here’s Jude 1:10-13 ESV.

But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively. 11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion. 12 These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.

While Jude is speaking specifically of “false teachers” here, the reality is that this also tends to classify those who are abjectly opposed to God and truth itself. These people are no better than Cain or Balaam or even Korah. They are rebels at heart and live only to rebel against all that is wholesome and good. Their end is foretold also by Jude.

Paul also reflects this same type of thought in his second letter to Timothy. Here is 2 Timothy 3:1-4 ESV.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…

I was driving home yesterday from my son’s home. It was a two lane road and a car in front of me was traveling slower, so I waited until I had a dotted yellow line and passed him safely. I didn’t ride his bumper or in any way antagonize him. As I passed him, I glanced back to make sure it was safe to pull back into the right lane without crowding him. He was an older gentleman with his wife. As I did so, I noticed that he gave me the one-finger salute and just held it there. Yet, I had done nothing that I could think of to antagonize him. Apparently, flipping me off made him feel better. I simply ignored it and continued on.

Why do people react like this? Because they are lovers of themselves, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy…without self-control, etc. For them, all that matters is what they want, how they feel, and their particular opinions.

It is as if the dam that once help incivility in check throughout society has broken down and no longer holds anything back. What people think, they say. Sometimes, for educational purposes, I’ll watch “crash” videos on the ‘Net. It is always interesting to me to see the stupid, self-centered things that drivers will do, that in most cases, cause accidents. They are quick to blame the innocent party and usually have nothing to say when they’re told that it was caught on the person’s dashcam.

This is our society. People are very quick to condemn. They are very quick to shout invective and the first swear word that comes to their minds. In lieu of that, they’ll use hand signals.

Society is sinking…fast. It’s as if the world’s septic tank is overflowing onto the surface of society. People are brash, rash, and often disgusting toward each other. When I drive on the freeway, I stay to the right as much as possible. Even then I’ve had 18-wheelers come up behind me and flash their lights at me to tell me I need to get out of their way.

Courtesy and decorum are quickly evaporating from society and the Bible warned us of this over 2000 years ago, that this is what we would be experiencing during these Last Days.

Folks, we are there. Political Correctness is killing society. It is turning things on its head, making good bad, and bad good.

What can and should Christians do? Several things:

• pray, pray, pray and pray some more every day!
• continue meeting regularly with other authentic Christians in a biblical setting where the Word is preached accurately
• get together with other solid Christians outside of church to build one another up
• read God’s Word every day!

Society will not improve. While there might be a brief respite here or there, overall, society will continue its downward death spiral.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 ESV)

Give yourself every advantage so that the world remains at least an arm’s length away from you. Prepare yourself mentally for the challenges that you’ll face daily because though we are not of the world, we are certainly in it.
