From The Intro to Nuclear Diablo

~Nuclear Diablo is a short story.

This is a long lie:
“It is not too much to expect that our children will enjoy in their homes electrical energy too cheap to meter; will know of great periodic regional famines in the world only as matters of history; will travel effortlessly over the seas and under them and through the air with a minimum of danger and at great speeds, and will experience a lifespan far longer than ours, as disease yields and man comes to understand what causes him to age.  This is the forecast of an age of peace.” ~Lewis L. Strauss, appointed Chairman of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in 1953, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

“History is the lie commonly agreed upon.” ~Voltaire

This is not your average story.  You’ve probably never read or heard anything like this.  Yea, it’s fictional.  I mean it has all the elements of a decent thriller; the whole it’s me against the world plot, guy meets mystery thing, but it’s unlike any story you’ve heard before.  This story isn’t verifiable nonfiction, though the reality it’s based on includes the most serious and scientific ideas of our time.  You will never be able to prove or disprove what I am about to tell you.  It’s possible you might see how it’s so real it had to be fiction, though I definitely would have fixed it different if I had the choice.  No matter if we win or lose you’ll probably never know if what I am about to divulge is true.  They are much too slick for that.
My story is set in New York City and straight up, I love New York.  It is one of the few places in the world where on any given day you are just as likely to get into multiple life changing conversations with new lovers and new friends, as you are to get into multiple, unrelated, scarring fights.  It’s a crazy place in a lot of ways and it’s unlike most any city in the world.  It’s like the microcosmic reflection of the world in a melting pot.  I mean I knew how to curse out people in like ten different languages by the time I was twelve.  Funny thing is though, the first word I learned that wasn’t English was the word Diablo.  It’s Spanish for devil, but people use it like they use the word damn, not like the English version, ‘damn it’, but the surprised damn. Like, ‘oh damn, that’s some shocking devil shit. It’s like when you learn anything about nuclear experimentation…‘diablo.’
The second thing I learned to say in Spanish was ‘da le’ from the verb dar, meaning to give and le meaning him, in this case expressing ‘give it to him’ specifically in reference to a nearby knuckle sandwich for somebody depending on who was doing the talking, and on who was around.  I live in the hood, where you got to fight sometimes just to fight people off of you, so you get the chance to survive and one day maybe fight for what you believe in.  And the hood forever has that nuclear diablo in the background.  The Indian Point, if know what I’m saying.
I was always interested in learning slang and multilingual curses, way more than I was interested in anything scholastic anyway.  I wanted to learn the history of the streets, like how New York went from the Deceps and the Autobots to the Crips and Bloods, instead of about how the Dutch took Manhattan, the real street deal and rhetoric.  And I definitely did not want to know about nuclear experimentation.
Eventually though I got into the habit of having my friends teach me Spanish, more than curses.  IAnd initially that was just some, ‘hola flaquita, qual es tu signo’ silliness to meet girsl you know but that’s how it started.  They say God started it all with the word, and for me shit all started with the word too, with my interest in words.
I was typical though.  At first I was on some stupid punk shit and we would play stupid kid games, like roll up to some Chinese people and tell them ‘ching ching maka haya bing bing’ just to piss them off and get chased by some Kung Fu family, or find some Arabic heads and make a sworn enemy for life and shit by jumping up on them and screaming some crazy bullshit. But even doing that, it still was about the words, and though I didn’t know it at the time, about the etymology.  I forget what that Chinese shit means, but it’s messed up for real, I know that.  I shouldn’t even print that shit and whatever you do you should not repeat it.
I like words and storytelling, even what some might call literature.  But honestly it’s crazy though, I really gained an appreciation for words, mainly and originally through cursing at people in Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic.  And then when I matured, I really, really fell in love with words through my art, through graffiti.  Books became a tertiary influence.  With Graf, one letter, one kink in the angle at the crux of one letter can infer, can proclaim, can make or break the whole piece and become a whole statement unto itself.  Literature needs all kinds of bullshit, but with a tag or a piece, one word can infer everything you would try to say in a novel, dependent on if you know how to read the streets.  Growing up for me writing was writing graffiti, not a journal or doing homework or something.  Eventually I figured if one word can have so much meaning than a lot of words can say mad more, if you know how to read the streets, so I started reading more.

Also Near-Free Ebook this week, The Matrix of Four

Ethan Indigo Smith’s book The Matrix of Four: The Philosophy of the Duality of Polarity is an exploration of our consciousness, and presents a formula to develop our consciousness, inspire and engage creative thinking and being, and surpass the limitations of traditional political and social constructs. In this work, Ethan explores correlations between the four seasons, the four operations of arithmetic, and the four archetypal characters in Plato’s The Allegory of the Cave, as well as the Aum, a myriad of esoteric and exoteric ideas on consciousness, and mathematical and philosophical concepts verified by universality and human tradition.

.

Employing this philosophical understanding, Ethan’s book The Complete Patriot’s Guide to Oligarchical Collectivism: Its Theory and Practice is an insightful exploration of history, philosophy and contemporary politics of today’s heavily institutionalized society.
