Shocking Development in China: Home Blood Tests for Forced Organ Harvesting

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Recently, Minghui.org, an official site for Falun Gong meditation, released a story about a new dimension in the forced organ harvesting and transplantation programs in China.  For the past 15 years, peaceful Falun Gong meditators have been persecuted in China.  The persecution has included arrest, imprisonment, torture, forced labor and even live organ harvesting.  Falun Gong is a traditional and advanced Chinese qigong self-cultivation that was first publicly introduced in China in 1992 and had up to 100 million people doing the practice when the Chinese Communist Party banned it in 1999.  It had no central control and there were more practitioners than members of the communist party, so the party became jealous and banned it.

This vile policy of live organ harvesting has included not only Falun Gong practitioners, but also Christians, Uighurs and political opponents.   This has been well documented by several people, including the former Canadian human rights minister David Kilgour.  See the link HERE. The excuse of using condemned prisoner’s organs isn’t working any more — in one major city there were about 50 executions, but 1,000 transplant operations. The Chinese culturally don’t believe in donating their organs, so where are they coming from?

Now, the organ harvesting tragedy has taken a dramatic turn, with the police in China BREAKING INTO THE HOMES of Falun Gong practitioners to draw blood for testing that will no doubt be used for a database of potential organ harvesting victims (from Epoch Times):

“Police across China are bursting into the homes of Falun Gong practitioners and forcing them to give blood samples in order to set up a DNA database, said a report published last week on a human rights website. The police are believed to be doing the testing in order to expand the list of potential donors whose organs may be taken for forced harvesting.

A July 19 article on the Falun Gong-run website Minghui.org lists over 25 incidents, some involving as many as 10 practitioners, in Liaoning, Guizhou, Hebei, and Hunan provinces, as well as in Beijing. These provinces are dispersed geographically, stretching from the far northeast of the country to the southwest.

In a typical incident, Falun Gong practitioners report police breaking into their homes and extracting blood against their will, sometimes forcibly.”

Based on these reports out of China, this is becoming an even more grevious injustice.

As Epoch Times reported in July, while interviewing Ethan Guttmann, the author of a forthcoming book on this tragedy in China, The Slaughter:

“The Chinese medical establishment essentially reneged on all their claims of organ harvesting reform back in March, so the timing appears to fit,” Gutmann wrote in an email. “If Minghui’s information is correct, the situation in China is rapidly deteriorating.”

Matas speculated that this new tactic for gathering practitioners’ data might be linked to the shutdown of the labor camps in China at the end of 2013.

“It sounds like an adaptation to the closing of the labor camps,” Matas said. “They only needed the practitioners in the labor camps to keep them as an organ donor bank. If authorities can have that, then they don’t need to keep the practitioners in detention.”

I spoke with Mr. Guttmann outside the World Transplantation Convention in San Francisco several months ago and asked him how this compared to what was done to Jews and others during WWII.  He told me “before this news, I’m not sure I could have told you that it reached the level of Nazi Germany, but with this new information regarding home blood sampling of Falun Gong practitioners in China it could easily become another Holocaust.”

Just FWIW. I have had Epoch Times bookmarked for several years. I considered it a more or less straightforward appraisal of mainland China from a Hong Kong perspective. However, recent reporting has become significantly more sensational with a propagandist aroma.

As a result several days ago I moved the bookmark from my ‘International’ folder to ‘Propaganda’.

Not that I can say whether this article is false or true. I have no way to know that.

      Just, “Question Everything”.

Hi Warren, I can tell you this. Look at the people who are reporting about this blood testing from China, click on the Minghui.org link. There are many very “matter of fact” reports of this happening and here are several questions I asked myself….

Have you ever heard of a place where the police barge into your home to force you to get a blood test?

Why would they target only Falun Gong for this kind of thing?

Why would they do a blood test unless it was to build a database for some reason? I don’t think they are only looking for blood donors.

You can also do your own research about Falun Gong at this link: http://falundafa.org

Yup. No doubt about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. At issue is what seem to be recent changes in tone and perhaps reliability at Epoch Times.

non issue not local, can’t do anything about it .how about lets take care of our problems here in our own back yard. first.

This should be considered a “heads up” for those in other countries but mainly this is a test of character…is this wrong or not?. Your (fill in name of country here) medical record can be accessed by just about anyone who wants to see it in that country. This could make a lot of people worth more dead than alive, especially if a rich/powerful person needs your blood/tissue type organs.

      • Warren

No, I personally don’t buy that philosophy. Certainly we need to clean up our own back yard. But also someone needs to shine some light in dark corners where atrocities are happening. Otherwise nothing is done about them. In this case international pressure may moderate China’s stance on Falun Gong.

The problem I have with the Epoch Times article is that it tries to connect two dots as cause and effect in a very tenuous way, thus:
        Dot 1 – China is forcefully collecting blood from Falun Gong members;
Dot 2 – China harvests organs from executed criminals.
-> Therefore China must be collecting blood to create a database of organ donors.

Keep in mind that our own government keeps such databases. People in the U.S. convicted of a crime (or in some cases just accused of a crime) have DNA samples taken. Our government tells us that’s so the criminals (or accused) can be matched to DNA taken from other crime scenes. Is that the real reason? Probably. I doubt they do it for an organ donor database. In China, Falun Gong members are considered criminals and the situation is similar. China may be hoping to match Falun Gong members to actual crimes so as to better be rid of them.

There’s actually quite a bit of real evidence for live organ harvesting. You’ll need to read the new book from Ethan Guttman that comes out August 12th. I spent about a half hour talking with him about it and he has quite a few of the facts. You should also check with the work done by David Kilgore, the former Canadian Human Rights Minister I referred to in the article. One thing Ethan told me that stuck in my mind was a major city in China had two hospitals with 1000 transplants and only 50 execution during one year. Where did all the organs come from?

        • CrowPie

          Chris,

In response to your question about where the extra 950 organs came from, one possibility is the black market. It is well documented that the poor in other countries are selling kidneys and other organs to lift themselves out of abject poverty.

This is not to take away from the possibility that your fellow Falun Gong practitioners are or may be being preyed upon. But it is a possibility that should be considered.

        • Consumera

Warren – I thought the exact same thing that you said on the DNA testing, but Chris’ point actually did provoke me to do some more research.

I actually found the paper that Chris was talking about from David Kilgore, I’m linking it below: http://www.david-kilgour.com/2006/Kilgour-Matas-organ-harvesting-rpt-July6-eng.pdf

I’m pulling an excerpt from page 33 from a Victim Interview:

“One cannot fairly conclude the worst here without knowing more. For five months in mid-2001, she was part of forced labour team of approximately 130 mostly female Falun Gong prisoners. Only the Falun Gong members in the group were taken by soldiers to a nearby police hospital for blood and urine tests, x-rays, and eye examinations.”

The organ harvesting in China is true and it’s really happening right now. It is so evil… :???:
