-Canadian Court: Parents Can’t Stop ‘Transgender’ Treatments for 14-Year-Old

The Supreme Court of British Columbia in Canada has ruled that the parents of a 14 year old girl have no right to stop their child from receiving male hormone injections in order to transgender to a male. Not only that, the court also ordered the parents to stop using the child’s given female name and that they would be found guilty of ‘family violence’ if they refused to use the child’s chosen male name and appropriate male pronouns.  From Faithwire:

Last Wednesday, a judge ruled that “Maxine” was “exclusively entitled to consent to medical treatment for gender dysphoria,” not dependent upon the parents’ opinions or concerns.

“Attempting to persuade [Maxine] to abandon treatment for gender dysphoria; addressing [Maxine] by his birth name; referring to [Maxine] as a girl or with female pronouns whether to him directly or to third parties; shall be considered to be family violence under s. 38 of the Family Law Act,” the court added in its stern February 27 ruling.

Response: This ruling is shocking. Not only did the parents have no say or even any notification of their child changing genders; the judge is threatening the parents with arrest for ‘family violence’ if they merely try to persuade the child not to receive the treatments or even if they refuse to use the child’s preferred name and gender pronouns. Incredible.

Even more disturbing is the fact that when this all began the girl was only 12 years old. The school authorities allowed the child to choose her own name and change her gender identity without any parental approval or even parental notification.  Then they referred her/’him’ to a counselor that specialized in ‘gender dysphoria’ who also happened to be a transgender activist. Again, it was all done without any kind of parental permission or notification.

It is amazing to me that schools who will not even dispense aspirins to children without permission will think nothing about supporting a gender change or even an abortion without so much as a notice to the parents.

For those of you who think that this could not happen in the USA, California already has a state law that allows public school students to choose their own gender identity without parental approval or notification. Also, if you use the wrong pronoun in reference to a transgender person you could get jail time in California. So something similar could very well happen in that state. Not only that, but other states are considering similar legislation and many have already allowed minors to receive abortions without parental approval or notification.

Now here’s the tie-in to religion and culture which this website specializes in. In California and now in other states, Christian parents can no longer take their children to any kind of ‘conversion’ or ‘reparative’ therapy counselors since that been outlawed. The law on this is so encompassing that many have concluded that it also might illegal to take a child to a pastor if the conversation was about homosexuality or transgender issues.

The point is, parental rights are now in real danger of being completely over-ridden by the progressive PC culture and government authorities. The next battle over parental rights in the near future will probably include the religious instruction of children. I have already seen this mentioned on numerous LGBT/progressive websites- the idea that it should be illegal to expose children to Bible teaching that contrary to current cultural LGBT dictums and same-sex marriage in particular since it has been declared legal in the USA.

I believe that Conservative Christian Bible oriented instruction of minor children will soon be in the cross hairs. Already some government social welfare administrators around the country have expressed the opinion that traditional religious instruction of children (particularly from the Bible) is tantamount to child abuse.               *Top
