7^th Station: Jesus falls the second time

We adore you O Christ and we praise you,

Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

I think of this Station and I am filled with pity. Three great figures of Gospel legend have stepped in Mary, Simon, and Veronica. I look around to see if any others will emerge. Yet nothing, Jesus is alone. Abandoned by humanity, a humanity he had healed and touched and restored and transformed. I can’t judge though because I don’t always step forward to defend my faith, I don’t step forward to proclaim Jesus’ name when the situation is risky to my welfare.

Alone under the weight of the Cross, squirming on the dusty floor gasping for breath, my Saviour Jesus died for my sin, my lack of courage and my indifferences. For this 2^nd fall sweet Jesus, I resolve to be braver in witnessing to you.
