Thai Steamed Fish 泰式清蒸甘榜鱼
I remember more than a month back, I came across this Thai version of steamed fish at one of the Thai restaurant in Kelantan. I was totally astonished by the steamed fish served by the restaurant. A very unique and simple flavour of sauce used on it. I’m trying to recreate the flavour. Hopefully, it will satisfy my own crave. Please read on for more.
3 large kembung fish/big eye, cleaned
2 tspn McCormick Lemon & pepper seasoning
1/3 cup lime juice
1/3 cup calamansi juice
2/3 cup Thai fish sauce
1-1/2 TB sugar
some chopped bird eye chilies (optional)
some cherry tomatoes, halved
handful of cilantro, chopped
3 pcs banana leaves, cleaned
(1) run fishes with lemon & pepper seasoning then wrap with banana leaf.
(2) next, steam fish for about 8-10 minutes or till done.
(3) now, combine Thai fish sauce, lime juice, calamansi juice, chilies and sugar, then mix well.
(4) finally, decorate fishes with cherry tomatoes, cilantro and gravy mixture, and serve.
Oh wow, not bad at all ! Yeap, this is the exact flavour which I’ve taken during my stay in Kelantan. Loving it so much. Hope you will too ! Enjoy guys.
