The Poppy Is a Bullet Hole

Poppies are native to flanders fields, we know about the representation, but most deaths were by Artillery which left scraps and the majority of bodies never recovered or recoverable. Rememberance has a darker side being a forced national event in the UK at a time of civil war. It became the equivalent of Veterans day only after WW2 since so few survived WW1 and is more a way of allowing paid monuments to dead relatives who will never return home, even those mass graves in France are mostly empty and just for show. We had been doing that since the Boer War since the death rate was similar and remains were never repatriated – My home towns monument is a Boer War one. The ceremonies are respected only for the sake of our parents and grandparents who died or were in the service, the Armed forces lost repectability since 2003 are are in terminal decline. My only tiies myself are with 1 great grandparent/2 grandparents and my Uncle Redge, one welsh Great Grandparent in 1917 who never returned home leaving a childto be born and adopted, one eighth army(My adoptive grandfather) who lost his first wife whilst unable to return home for 10 years, One a captain in the medical corps in Burma who had his best friend killed by Japanese fire on his first day whislt they were stretcher bearing and a Schoolfriend who died on his first year of deployment in West Germany in 1989 whilst driving a BFG number plated car after being shot by an IRA team in the Netherlands, Big Shinner who I was at the sea cadets with in 1983, I went to School with his little brother. Another 2 men in the car were also killed. We got his body back and he his buried in the Catholic Wharton Cemetary, which is rare.
