Security Devices International to display its nonlethal personal security device at Daytona

Security Devices International Inc (OTCMKTS:SDEV) (CSE:SDZ) said Wednesday that it will display its Byrna HD nonlethal personal security device at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, from February 9 to 17.

The Wakefield, Massachusetts-based company said in a statement that it will display the Byrna HD under a partnership with Rick Ware Racing in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series. About 200,000 fans are expected to attend DAYTONA Speedweeks for the Daytona 500. SDI and Byrna are sponsors of the Ford model driven by Cody Ware, which will be displayed next to the Byrna booth.

The Byrna HD is designed for home defense and personal security, the company said in the statement. Similar in size to a lethal handgun, the device comes with multiple, easily reloadable magazines that can hold .68-caliber training rounds or payload rounds designed to burn an assailant’s eyes and respiratory system upon contact.

While the Byrna HD is not a firearm under federal law and does not require a federal gun license, state laws and local ordinances may regulate its possession in certain localities, according to Security Devices.

Shares of Security Devices fetched US$0.14 in Tuesday’s OTC Markets trading. They slipped C$0.01 to C$0.18 in Canada.
