Kosmos Energy founder Brian Maxted retires

One of the founders of Dallas-based oil and gas company Kosmos Energy Ltd (LON:KOS NYSE:KOS) has retired from his role as chief exploration officer.

Brian Maxted, who helped set up the £1.7bn business back in 2003, won’t be leaving the scene completely, though; he will remain on the board of directors and will continue to serve as a special advisor.

“On behalf of the entire board of directors and all Kosmos employees worldwide, I would like to thank Brian for his dedication to Kosmos since its founding and the excellent record of exploration success he has delivered,” said chairman and chief executive Andrew Inglis.

“We are grateful for his continued presence on the board and as an advisor to the company.”

Taking over from Maxted as Kosmos’ chief exploration officer is Tracey Henderson.

Henderson joined the company a year after inception in 2004 and was part of the technical team responsible for the discovery of the Jubilee field in Ghana, the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field in Mauritania and Senegal, and the Yakaar field in Senegal.

“I am pleased that Tracey is taking over as chief exploration officer. She embodies all of the exploration leadership attributes that have made Kosmos successful,” added chairman Inglis.

Kosmos shares were unchanged at 447.5p on Monday morning.
