Yesterday my daughter was proposed to.  We knew it was coming but we didn’t know exactly when.  We got the call when and it worked out because I was already going to be in San Francisco at Young Startups.

My wife flew out on Thursday.  I left the conference right after our last panel because we had a date.  I checked into SFO Airport to confuse my daughter, and then my wife and I met for a date at Mr. Jiu’s.  I highly recommend that place. It’s the best Chinese restaurant I have ever ate at.  Been twice now. If they want financial backers to open in Chicago, I am in because we don’t have anything close to it or like it.

Our other daughter who is in law school flew out on Saturday morning.

Spencer set it all up as a surprise.

He proposed to her in Carmel, CA which is one of the most beautiful places on earth. She said yes.

My wife and I met Joanne and Fred Wilson for drinks a few years ago.  At the time I told Fred that I didn’t want to meet every single boyfriend my daughters had because I didn’t want to waste my time.  This trip was for sure not a waste of time.

They met on Bumble. He moved to LA to work for Snapchat. She’s working for a startup in LA called FitOnApp. He grew up in Wisconsin and is a Packer fan. We are glad to have diversity in the family and it will be awesome to watch them build their own family.  Now off to brunch and then a flight back to Chicago.
