Have you ever read the creepy, spooky Goosebumps novels as a kid? I know I did! I actually had shelves full of such books, and remember scaring myself silly right before bedtime with the fun yet freaky tales. 

Of course now, Goosebumps is not only a series of bestselling books, they’re movies as well, loved by fans young and old, alike! If you’ve been waiting for Goosebumps 2, your wait is over! 

You’re in for a fun scare when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment unleashes GOOSEBUMPS 2 debuting on Digital and available via the Movies Anywhere App on December 25 and coming to Blu-ray™ and DVD January 15. Slappy the devious ventriloquist dummy returns to run amuck, in this second installment of the family-friendly franchise based on R.L. Stine’s beloved book series. Standing in Slappy’s way is a terrifyingly talented cast including Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle),Jeremy Ray Taylor (It), Caleel Harris (Castle Rock), and Chris Parnell (Rick and Morty), with Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians).

​Synopsis:
Be careful what you wish for. With their after school junk business, best friends Sonny and Sam hope to find treasure in other people’s trash. But when cleaning out the old Stine house, they open a locked book that frees a supernatural nightmare- Slappy! Now, with the help of Sonny’s sister Sarah, they’re in a race against time to get the sinister dummy and all the creatures he’s brought to life back into the pages before he unleashes total pandemonium!
 
Based on the beloved Scholastic book series by R.L Stine, GOOSEBUMPS 2 was directed by Academy Award®-winner Ari Sandel (2005, Best Short Film-Live Action, West Bank Story) from a story by Rob Lieber and Darren Lemke and screenplay by Lieber. The film is produced by Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz and is executive produced by Timothy M. OUR THOUGHTS: 
This, as we expected, was more fun than fright. (Although Slappy the dummy IS creepy to small kiddos.) This movie deals with friendship, treasure hunting as a group, and even struggles with school. Of course there are plenty of things that cause scares and keep eyes wide open at night. Don’t worry, though, as none of these scary scenes will linger after the movie is over. It’s definitely MUCH more fun than frightening. This is also very mild as far as content goes. There’s not any sex, no substance abuse, no extreme violence or gore, making this the perfect film for the whole family to enjoy. 
 
GOOSEBUMPS 2 has a run time of approximately 120 minutes and is rated PG for scary creature action and images, some thematic elements, rude humor and language.
