If You Drink Alcohol Regularly, You Need To Read This (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

(N.Morgan)  While it may be common knowledge that alcohol is bad for us, there are still harmful effects many are unaware of.

Alcohol is a known carcinogen and regular alcohol consumption actually inhibits the body’s natural ability to produce crucial vitamins.

Alcohol is also a depressant and this information makes it clear just how negatively it can impact both mental and physical health, often leading to a vicious cycle of self medication.

Here are some of the long term negative effects of alcohol on the body.

Known Carcinogen

Several studies clearly correlate alcohol consumption and cancer development, linking moderate to regular alcohol consumption to the following types of cancer: Head and neck cancer, Esophagal Cancer, Liver Cancer, Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, and more.

“Based on extensive reviews of research studies, there is a strong scientific consensus of an association between alcohol drinking and several types of cancer.” National Cancer Institute

Decreased Vitamin B12 Production

Studies have also concluded that drinking alcohol in excess compromises your vitamin B12 levels;  if you are already or become deficient in this crucial vitamin, your health may suffer greatly. Recent studies have also concluded that even regular, moderate use of alcohol can impact your B12 levels.

Decreased Vitamin D & Calcium Absorption

Alcohol interferes with the pancreas and its ability to absorb calcium and vitamin D. Alcohol also affects the liver, which is important for activating vitamin D, necessary for proper calcium absorption. This cascade of effects can lead to difficulties with bone regeneration.

Liver Damage (Cirrhosis)

Liver cirrhosis occurs when the liver becomes scarred, and while a number of things can cause this, a common cause of this is alcohol abuse. Cirrhosis of the liver can be very serious, even fatal, and often the only way to reverse it is through surgery.

Depressant

As appealing and even empowering as the feeling of lowered inhibitions and increased confidence can be, alcohol is a depressant which lowers serotonin levels in the brain. Many people turn to alcohol to alleviate depression, but many actually develop it because of alcohol, hence why this can become a very vicious cycle for some people.

In the video below Dr. Samuel Ball of the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASAColumbia) reveals the myriad effects alcohol has on your brain and body.

How Alcohol Affects Your Brain And Body

Tell that to those old Paisanos in Italy who have drunk wine daily since childhood and live well into their Eghties. ANYTHING in excess is bad, but alcohol in moderation is harmless and even beneficial as a blood thinner. If it wasn’t good for you, then I guess Jesus would have turned that water into vegetable juice instead at the Cana wedding feast.

Correct, my grandfather lived to be 91 and my father 87. Drinking right before or during the meal makes a difference. But of course the old age, that was before Chem trails debris infesting grape plants, the soil, etc., ditto for liquor and beer. Must buy organic to be safe but it still is not organic because the soil is contaminated unless grown in a greenhouse.

Agree: you are a voice of reason: here in the UK wine is adulterated with pesticides, herbicides etc. To be sure, booze is bad, but sobriety is even worse!

Got a chuckle out of your post Grumpy.

My deep red wine is on the table along side the salt and pepper….:)
I was 3 when I began to drink red wine. Only a little bit though. Now I drink one glass a nite.

i want to take the writer out for a few drinks..she needs to drink twice as much as me ’cause the more she drinks the better lookin i get!

Red wine is good for the heart. The tannins in moderation have a great effect…

CDC has clear alcohol consumption guidelines.

1 drink a day for women (5 oz. of wine not the Kathy Lee & Hoda glass!)
2 drinks a day for men.

A binge = 3 or more in a day for women
5 or more in a day for men

Heavy drinker = 8 or more drinks a week for women
15 or more drinks a week for men

Now ask yourself, have you ever really drank moderately? Drinking in moderation, That’s a nice sentiment but 30% of the population doesn’t. That’s what’s driving the high cost of healthcare. Alcohol, drug, and food addictions!

The C D C changes their positions more than a politician. You can take anything the C D C says and rank it right up there with “the check’s in the mail”, “You can trust me”, and ” Don’t worry, baby, I won’t—- Well, you know the rest of it. Drinking is bad,– NO it’s good. Cholesterol is bad, -NO it’s good. Red meat is bad, — NO it’s good. Supplements are good, — NO they’re bad. Now I REALLY need a shot and beer. A wise man once said (sang)” Believe half of what you see, some or none of what you hear” (Marvin Gaye)

I just drink one beer in the evening. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but I add a few bong hits to it. Then, I kick back and watch the wildlife and stars before calling it a night, listening to a little Floyd. It’s a pretty high quality of life where I live, until the FEMA camps move in.

      Hello Angle#3(prelim),

Charlie here. I remember reading many stories of very, very, old and ACTIVE people (above 100 and what they call super centenarians above 110) and many of them had their daily shots of whisky or wine and the oldest person ever (that French women) use to like Port wines and chocolates.

One guy in his hundreds still tended his garden and said he took a shot of liquor every morning! Some of them even credited their CIGAR habits!!

      Signed,

Charlie (sadly, no one credited the doughnuts)

      • King Of Jambalamba

i hate you so much…hope you get an invite to the FEMA camps very soon! oh go choke on a doughnut

        • Mayhem

Most folk probably know how much you hate His Pinkyness and i bet more than a few wonder what is missing in your life that allows you to be so emotionally attached to an online personality conflict.

Have a doughnut because you’re mean when you’re hungry.

        • Pink Slime

I want to send you a box of Twinkies. What is your address?

          • Pink Slime

        • Eggzactly

    • kletus_ledbetter

      Thash bullsish HIC!

    • Sucking Chest Wound

      Ok, But other than that…..

It’s a little known fact that alcohol can turn a handsome dashing knight in shining armor into a fat pimply mommy’s boy living in the basement in a matter of about four hours. Just add sunrise and coffee. “Taxi….TAXI”

      Go figure.

    • ShadowViperHissatsu
