Sierra Tarahumara: 4 Executed w Heads Left in Coolers

Four men were tortured, executed and their heads left in white coolers, in the municipality of Madera, in the Sierra Tarahumara reported the State Attorney’s Office of Chihuahua.

The Western District District Prosecutor’s Office carries out investigations into the location of the human remains, which were located at the entrance to the Las Varas community, municipality of Madera.

Unofficially it was announced that the criminal group that was accredited with leaving  the card messages is La Línea. The messages allude to criminal groups.

The finding was reported at 8:45 pm on Wednesday, when elements of the State Research Agency found four coolers and on them, some cardboard with messages alluding to crime groups.


The report was made by personnel of the Municipal Police, mentioning that they were abandoned last night, by an armed group that traveled in at least three vans.

The four coolers were at the junction of the road from Las Varas to El Largo Maderal, authorities said.

After the finding was confirmed, by municipal agents, elements of the State Attorney General’s Office and the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) arrived.
Upon reviewing the interior of the coolers it was discovered that each contained a human head.

Initially the municipal police reported gunshots and, later, when approaching the place, they discovered that they outnumbered them, and when the trucks left at full speed, they did not follow them.

Removal of the human remains that were transferred to the city of Cuauhtémoc for possible identification.

Meanwhile, the Public Ministry carried out the corresponding procedures to follow up the investigations.

In the municipality of Madera there have been massacres, homicides and disappearances since the last administration, and during the current administration the number of confrontations and attacks against state police increased. In addition, the state government has located clandestine graves in that region.
