Magdalena, Sonora: Violent Confrontation Leaves 2 Dead, Vehicles Burned

The confrontation of two antagonistic armed criminal groups in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, left the balance of three people dead and a pregnant woman wounded by a gunshot, as well as cars burned and damaged  homes and vehicles were registered in Magdalena after the shootout was provoked.

Magdalena de Kino, Sonora:  The afternoon of this Tuesday the population of Magdalena de Kino , saw its tranquility interrupted after a scuffle with firearms was recorded among alleged members of organized crime , where apparently one  of the assassins was left dead, another man shot dead in the face, which provoked a strong mobilization of the security bodies, municipal, state and federal.

According to state authorities, “El Audi”, originally from Ciudad Juárez , Chihuahua , is alleged to be the leader of a criminal group and was one of the dead.

In addition, the State Attorney’s Office reported on three people injured by bullets: two of them are out of danger and the other is attended by doctors. People had to shelter in place.

Local authorities confirmed that the shooting went through the city from South to North on Avenida Niños Héroes, the main street of the so-called Pueblo Magico. 

The identity of the victims has not been officially confirmed, but at least one of them is a resident of this locality. 

Authorities confirmed that the confrontation began in the San Isidro neighborhood, on the margin of the Magdalena River, in the South zone, where armed individuals attacked each other with bullets.

Without ceasing the fire, during the persecution, several subjects got out of the cars and entered department stores in an attempt to escape. 

“They went to a Coppel store and others ran away, they were throwing away for a long time,” one witness reported. 

The delinquents advanced towards the North by the Niños Héroes Avenue, causing damages in private cars and homes until arriving at the North exit, on the road leading to the Cuatro Carriles Highway.

In that place, between the Municipal Stadium and a maquiladora industry facility, the skirmish continued and armed subjects, who wore camouflage-type clothing burned two vehicles quietly and later retired. One of the incendiary vehicles was armored.

Later the bodies of two people were found, while the wounded were taken one to the Health Center and another to the Center of Specialties.
