Note:  North East Coahuila continues to be a hotbed of violence, in the cities north of Saltillo.  In the past week there have been 7 clashes between CDN and Fuerza Coahuila. Fuerza is the so called elite state police force, who replaced GATE.  GATE was created by Humberto Moreira who was governor at the time.  GATE force became as terrorizing as the cartels, according to citizens reports.  Fuerza’s force of 3000 and according to the Governor, their main purpose is to fight Zetas.  CDN has had a hold of  this territory, which is not far from Nuevo Laredo, their most important plaza.

FC clearly is not in the pocket of CDN and appears to have begun an all out effort to challenge their presence.  The uptick of violence began 6 months ago, in places like Saltillo and Monclova and advance north from there.  This clash took place in Acuna which sits on the border across Rio Bravo/Rio Grande to Del Rio Texas.

 Clash of today

This afternoon state elements killed two armed civilians in the municipality of Ciudad Acuña.

There was a military checkpoint which was ignored, and began a chase that ended in a shooting.

According to official information, after ignoring a command to stop two civilians began shooting against the Fuerza [FC] who was on patrol in the breach known as Las Cuevas-Los Novillos.

The Attorney General’s Office reported that the occupants of a gray pickup truck, Toyota brand, without license plates, sought to avoid a military checkpoint located on the road, however in that gap were surprised by the FC State  Police, who were performing  a surveillance patrol.

After this, the two men dressed in black, with tactical vests as well as helmets and long weapons, descended from the vehicle, and  began an attack against FC.

In repelling the attack, the two armed civilians were killed.
