Iranian Scientist Kidnapping – The Shahram Amiri Affair

The U.S. claimed Shahram’s kidnapping was a “defection”.  This must mean that murderers are not imprisoned, but instead defect to Sing Sing.  I guess those held in gulags decided to “emigrate” to Siberia, and the Iraqis in Abu Ghrab are merely on a short sabbatical.

 The U.S. claimed Shahram defected, but Youtube videos show him reporting on two videos that he escaped and was in hiding from the CIA.  A different video, one that was made by the CIA and is very polished, has an imposter stating he was Shahram and was intent on staying and studying in the U.S.   

 Now the U.S. stated Shahram sold Iranian nuclear secrets for $5 million, and if this is true the CIA has just decided to out the biggest intelligence asset since Dick Cheney decided to broadcast to the world that Valerie Plame worked as a CIA agent for Brewster, Jennings and Associates, itself a CIA front company.

 Is the CIA really that stupid as to tell Iran that an asset gave them all of their intelligence shortcomings concerning the Iranian nuclear program?  If so, how much information can a low-level scientist provide?  And, if everything he told the CIA jibs with everything the IAEA already knew, as the entire program has been in compliance with the IAEA who was provided unfettered access, this may the silver bullet that kills the neocon drive for war with Iran. 

 However, if the CIA outted its own asset, what is the chance anyone else would be willing to provide intelligence?  Has the CIA considered that once again it is trying to pull a poker bluff on a country that invented chess and is strategically arraying its pieces?  Chabali, the first Iraqi president installed by the U.S., was discovered to be an Iranian spy.  The U.S. actually raided the president’s office and seized his computers and was a step away from charging him with espionage through its Iraqi puppets.  Here is the proof:

WASHINGTON — The Defense Intelligence Agency has concluded that a
U.S.-funded arm of Ahmed Chalabi’s Iraqi National Congress has been used for
years by Iranian intelligence to pass disinformation to the United States
and to collect highly sensitive American secrets, according to intelligence
sources.

 There is a large school of thought inside the CIA that says the overthrow of Saddam was engineered by the Iranian intelligence services.  The Iranians knew Bush was looking for a reason to invade Iraq.  Iran also knew that Saddam’s demise, and the dismantling of the Sunni regime, would expand Iranian regional influence exponentially and ensure Shiite domination of Iraq.   It is amusing to those in the know when the U.S. claims Iran is trying to overthrow the Iraqi government.  The Iranians created, funded, and provided sanctuary to what is the new Iraqi Shiite-dominated government for many years during the reign of Saddam.  Why would the Iranians now want to overthrow their own creation?  One of Chalabi’s top lieutenants was known as “Curveball” to the CIA.  Curveball fed the CIA more bogus intelligence than an Abu Ghrab prisoner with a pair of panties on his head, a dog’s canines locked onto his thigh, and a set of starter cables clamping his testicles to a 220 volt main.

 There are people in the CIA who swear that Iran pulled the biggest intelligence coup in the history of Spy-v-Spy.  They claim that Chalabi fed the Office of Special Plans, aka Expanded Iraqi Desk, which was the secret and probably illegal intelligence gathering apparatus used by Cheney to stovepipe intelligence around the CIA, all the bogus intelligence it could swallow until it was vomiting and defecating Iranian foreign policy in supporting the overthrow of Saddam.  These Iranian lies allowed Bush to “fix intelligence around the policy” so that they could all “come up with a reason we can agree on” for the invasion of Iraq.  This is some pretty funny stuff you can’t just make up.  Throw in Cheney’s 1 Percent Doctrine, which states that if any country has a 1% chance of attacking the U.S. preemptive invasion is justified, and you have played the U.S. like a master puppeteer. 

 As far as kidnapping an Iranian scientist, why would the CIA want to tell Iran that he spilled his guts?  Wouldn’t it make more sense to be quiet on the chance that he may provide future intelligence if he really did give up information?  Here is an even funnier scenario:  What if he was specifically planted to provide the U.S. and the Saudis with more bogus intelligence? 

 The CIA’s cover story is that Shahram defected voluntarily, grabbed $5million, but now has decided he wants to spend it in Iran.  The CIA says he decided he wanted to go back to Iran because his family was threatened, but he has been gone for a year and no harm has yet befallen his family.  If the CIA story holds water, wouldn’t the harm have already occurred considering it has been a year?  And, wouldn’t Shahram have wanted to get back sooner?  And, if Shahram did sing, like the CIA says, wouldn’t his family be harmed anyway to discourage others?  And if his family is harmed for betraying his country to the CIA, wouldn’t the CIA be ensuring his family is harmed by announcing Shaham did talk?

 The neocon insiders, the Mossad, and Italian intelligence services were all credited for devising the Niger forgeries.  Next, we have seen the bogus Iranian laptop computer the U.S. refuses to allow the U.N. or the IAEA to review, a laptop provided courtesy of the Mossad.  If I were an Iranian I would listen the everything the CIA, Department of Defense, and State Department has to say, and then believe the opposite.  The U.S. government has turned into a pathological liar and should not be believed any farther than one can throw an M1 Abrams tank. 

 America’s first problem is that its friends are friends with its enemies.  America’s second problem is that its enemies are friends with its friends.  Combine that with a “stuck on stupid” foreign policy that is so schizophrenic that it can’t figure out if it wants to kill people or protect them from one day to the next, while it builds a metropolis where there is wasteland while paying $300 per gallon of JP8, and you have the makings for a fiasco sure to bankrupt the U.S.  One day the American people will figure out they could have bought a lot of gas for 3 trillion dollars.

 My bet is the CIA lied about everything, Shahram will be a national hero, the U.S. learned nothing of value, and the rest of the world knows the U.S. lies are getting more ridiculous than those told by the KGB as imperial conquest begins to resemble slap-stick comedy where the U.S. tries a double-poke to Iran’s eyes while Iran uses a hand block and comes over the top with a hammer-strike ala The Three Stooges.

 The funniest thing about all this is that the State Department’s spokesman, P.J. Crowley, in the age of American torture and rendition, professed: “We are not in the habit of going around kidnapping people.”  I like Jon Stewart too, but do you have to make his job that easy?  Americans should Google: “If Americans Knew”.  If they did, they would not be stuck on stupid while thinking that they are getting on board for the bid win.
