Memorial Day Weekend 2019

This weekend, we remember those who gave their last full measure of devotion so that we may remain free and continue to enjoy the blessings of the greatest Republic the world has ever known:

Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday of May, commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service. In observance of the holiday, many people visit cemeteries and memorials, and volunteers often place American flags on each grave site at national cemeteries. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time.

          In Flanders fields the poppies blow

          The larks, still bravely singing, fly.

          Scarce heard amid the guns below.

          We are the dead. Short days ago

          We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow

          Loved, and were loved, and now we lie

          In Flanders fields.

          Take up our quarrel with the foe:

          To you from failing hands we throw

          The torch; be yours to hold it high.

          If ye break faith with us who die

          We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

          In Flanders fields.

While you enjoy this holiday weekend with friends and family, take a moment to pray for and silently thank all the patriots who gave their lives so that we may live free. Do not break faith with them. Hold the torch high!
