Attention All Plymouth Township Michigan Taxpayers (Aug 7 vote)

It is very important that everyone votes in the August 7th primary to prevent special interest candidates from taking over the Plymouth Township Government and raising our taxes.

In the past months the City of Plymouth canceled the contract with Plymouth Township for Fire Fighting services. This left Plymouth Township with approximately a one million dollar budget short fall. The City of Plymouth signed a contract with Northville with a savings of approximately $400,000, the city is extremely happy with the new arrangement and the response times.

All Township employees with the exception of Township Clerk Joe Bridgeman and the Firemen took pay cuts in these tough economic times. The Firemen demanded the Township Board put a millage vote on the ballot to raise our taxes. When the Township board refused  Firemen disguised as the Citizens Action Group sat in front places such as Kroger gathering signatures to force a special election on the  ballot. Because of irregularities in the signatures the Township refused to put it on the ballot. The Citizens Action Group then found a Judge who forced the issue onto the February ballot.

A group of taxpayers formed the Friends of Plymouth Township. This group made its mission to bring out the truth and inform the Citizens the true facts. With the help of this group the Township was able to defeat this special assessment by a vote of 84% voting NO.

If this had passed it could have forced our taxes up to 10 mils. The Firemen accused the Township of frightening the citizens about the 10 mil increase when in fact they forced it on the ballot.

There is a group of candidates with personal grudges, including former Township employees, Firefighters wives, and other people who are determined to eliminate the present board with the idea of promoting their own selfish interests. Included in this group is at least one person who has always voted Democratic and now appears on the ballot as a Republican.

I attended a meeting at the Plymouth Library where a select group candidates were invited and they proceeded to tell the audience half truths and lies. The press was invited to hear their negative comments.

This group wants to rehire laid off firemen, raise our taxes and take over ambulance runs from the private Huron Valley Ambulance. The important issue is the taxpayers would have to pay the spiraling legacy costs.

We need everyone to vote to prevent these candidates from taking over the Township Election. Township Clerk Joe Bridgeman has voted to raise our taxes on numerous occasions has not shown the courage to make budget cuts reduce legacy costs. Mr. Bridgeman’s signs can be seen in front of houses of people who have special interests that want our taxes raised

I encourage you to vote for the following Candidates who have the taxpayer’s best interest at heart. This may be our last chance.
