PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Macon County Emergency Services
104 E. Main St.
Franklin, NC 28734
August 10, 2018

Macon County Emergency Services uses CodeRed emergency alert system, an informational tool, to keep residents safe.

In an event of an emergency, Macon County Emergency Services issue alerts through CodeRED, a high-speed notification solution. The CodeRED system allows messages to be quickly delivered to targeted areas of Macon County or to a specific community in Macon County as a whole.

On August 14, 2018, Macon County Emergency Services will be conducting a performance test of the system at 11:00am, contacting everyone in Macon County who is currently in the emergency database.

Receiving a test message will assure that residents will receive a message when an actual alert is issued by Macon County Emergency Services officials. Residents who have not enrolled to receive emergency CodeRED notifications, or do not receive a test message should visit the Macon County, NC website and click the CodeRED link under the “For Residents” Tab.
No one should automatically assume that Macon County Emergency Services officials have your contact information. Macon County Emergency Services urges all individuals and businesses to visit www.maconnc.org and click on the CodeRED link under “For Residents” tab. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number, additional phone numbers can be entered as well.

CodeRED gives those who want to be included an easy and secure method for inputting information.

The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes such as in the case of severe weather, missing children, boil water advisories and shelter-in-place alerts.

If you have any questions, please contact Macon County Emergency Services Office at 828-349-2067.
