Matthew Shepard to Be Interred at Washington National Cathedral

One advantage of liberalism over Christianity is that it is easier to achieve sainthood in the former. For example, Matthew Shepard accomplished nothing that I know of other than to be a degenerate and sexual deviant who got himself killed at age 21 in 1998, apparently over meth. However, social engineers were able to exploit his death by transforming him into a symbol of gay oppression in bigoted flyover country. That warrants full saint treatment, now including consecration of his remains:

On Oct. 26, Mr. Shepard will be interred at the Washington National Cathedral, the neo-Gothic, Episcopal house of worship that is a fixture of American politics and religion.

Shepard is said to be worthy of this honor because of what he “represents in American history.” That is, they are not revering Shepard himself but rather the LBGT agenda, on behalf of which he has posthumously become a weapon to be wielded by crybullies.

Shepard’s name was on a bill, signed into law in 2009, that expanded the definition of violent federal hate crimes to include those committed because of a victim’s sexual orientation.

That is, they utilized this symbol to establish that, although we are all equal before the law, homosexuals are more equal.

Note that in punishing the supposed motive in addition to the act itself, Big Government has been able to exploit victim politics to criminalize thought.

Presiding over the interment will be Gene Robinson, who made a mockery of Christianity by becoming the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop. The sin of homosexuality is stringently condemned throughout the Bible. Now Matthew Shepard can symbolize not only gays as supposed victims, but also the transformational effect homosexual encroachment on the Christian religion.

Readers may recall that Robinson earlier presided at a service at the Washington National Cathedral with Cameron Partridge, the Episcopal church’s historic first transgender priest. Robinson retired and went to work for the Soros-funded Center for American Progress, allowing him to worship the same god as before but less dishonestly.

It should be noted that Shepard was not really killed for being gay, as Stephen Jimenez took heat for documenting in The Book of Matt, and as even the left-wing Guardian admits. However, facts are irrelevant to the liberal narrative.
