Why Palmer Luckey Was Fired by Facebook

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Silicon Valley does not tolerate ideological nonconformity. Google engineer James Damore knows it. Former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich does too. So does “virtual reality wunderkind” Palmer Luckey, after donating $10,000 to an anti-Hillary group in 2016 got him canned by Facebook:

His donation sparked a backlash from his colleagues. Six months later, he was out. Neither Facebook nor Mr. Luckey has ever said why he left the social-media giant. When testifying before Congress about data privacy earlier this year, Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg denied the departure had anything to do with politics.

It appears that Zuckerberg has committed a crime by lying to Congress.

Mr. Luckey, it turns out, was put on leave, then fired, according to people familiar with the matter. More recently, he has told people the reason was his support for Donald Trump and the furor that his political beliefs sparked within Facebook and Silicon Valley…

The home-schooled Luckey has been a Trump fan going way back. He credits Art of the Deal with inspiring his precocious entrepreneurism; the virtual reality company Oculus VR that he started as a teenager was sold to Facebook for over $2 billion. But Zuckerberg forced him to publicly proclaim support for moonbat “libertarian” Gary Johnson instead.

In addition to the donation, Luckey stands accused of posting the following comment on Reddit under the name NimbleRichMan:

“Hillary Clinton is corrupt, a warmonger, a freedom-stripper. Not the good kind you see dancing in bikinis on Independence day, the bad kind that strips freedom from citizens and grants it to donors.”

Luckey has confirmed that he did not leave Facebook voluntarily. Nonetheless, Facebook paid the thought criminal $100 million to be rid of him. Not a bad return on that $10,000 investment.
