Texas Needs Your Help

This is a time for all Americans to pull together and help Texas. People have been freezing there.

In Houston:

Houston has recorded [its] earliest snowfall ever observed — and not just by a day or two but by 10 days! The previous earliest trace snow was November 23rd, 1979. … [T]his is like getting a freeze in Boston in August.

In San Antonio:

San Antonio reached a low of 23 degrees at the airport [Wednesday] morning, which tied for the fourth-coldest November low temperature on record. The only colder temperatures were recorded in 1976 and 1886, and both were later in the month.

The cold weather also broke daily records on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures are letting up slightly, but remain low. Tonight’s forecast low for San Antonio is 39°, compared to a historic average of 50°. For Houston, tonight’s forcast low of 41° contrasts with a historic average of 52°.

Texans aren’t used to this kind of cold in November. Do your part to alleviate the suffering. Take an extra ride in your SUV. Leave a few lights on, and be sure to use regular incandescent bulbs if you can find them. Put some ranch dressing on your food. According to the media, these activities will help raise temperatures.
