Showboating RINO Jeff Flake Gets Tough

Even the election of Arizona-denouncing moonbat Kirsten Sinema as Arizona Senator has a silver lining, besides reminding us that the progressive 17th Amendment needs repealing. She has her flaws, as has been documented here at length. But Sinema could be an improvement on the RINO she is replacing, John McCain’s Mini-Me, Jeff Flake. Even if her recent moderate posture is for real, she will still vote with the Democrats more often than Flake has. But at least when she slips the knife in, it won’t be in the back:

Flake said Wednesday that he won’t vote to confirm judicial nominees unless GOP leaders hold a vote on legislation to protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired.

Nobody is going to fire Mueller. If that were going to happen, it would have long ago. The longer his tedious dog and pony show runs, the more obvious it is that there was no Russian collusion of any significance, only a great deal of vengefulness on the part of sore loser Democrats.

However, the idea that Mueller will be tyrannically silenced lest he reveal Trump’s shocking treachery is a key aspect of the liberal narrative. Flake is happy to help prop it up.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell nixed a vote because the legislation is unnecessary theater, since no one is shutting down Mueller’s investigation despite the fishing expedition’s increasingly evident absurdity. So Flake gets tough:

Flake, who retires in January, said he wouldn’t vote to confirm judges on the Senate floor or to advance them out of committee until there was a vote on the Mueller bill.

John McCain would be proud.
