Tennessee Governor Bill Lee Problematic Yearbook Photo

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Another career is in the Cultural Marxist crosshairs. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee wore a Confederate uniform to an Old South party as a student at Alabama’s Auburn University 39 years ago. The picture appeared in a 1980 yearbook. This is actually a featured story at the Washington Post.

As we have come to expect, Lee promptly fell to his knees and started groveling before the thought police.

In a statement to The Washington Post, Lee said he regretted wearing the uniform.

“Although I have never acted to intentionally hurt anyone, I have the benefit of 40 years of hindsight to see that participating was insensitive and I’ve come to regret it,” Lee said.

A Lee spokesman added that the governor has never worn blackface.

Seriously, I did not make that part up about the blackface.

This will come to a surprise to many, but there was a time when there was more to life than how oppressed we are supposed to think blacks are. Wearing the uniform at an Old South party did not necessarily have anything to do with Persons of Politically Preferred Pigmentation. Maybe it just had to do with the Old South, like the old-fashioned dresses of the girls in the picture.

The incriminating photo appeared in the Kappa Alpha Order section of the yearbook.

In 2010, the fraternity’s national leadership banned the wearing of Confederate uniforms at its “Old South” parties and parades after complaints from black students. It banned the use of the term “Old South” for its events in 2016.

Soon leftist bullies will have eradicated all references to the South as a historical and cultural entity. Then they will move on to whatever comes next.

In the meantime, it will not be surprising to see Lee to devote his tenure as Governor to “racial reconciliation” — i.e., expanding favoritism to blacks at the expense of whites — like Ralph Northam in Virginia.

Next, governors will be hounded by the media for having listened to Lynyrd Skynyrd in high school, or for having watched the show Dukes of Hazard, which has been designated as thoughtcrime and consigned to the Memory Hole.
