Academia’s New Improved Jesus Christ

It would be hard to parody the extremism and ideological depravity that prevail on college campuses. Were you to try really hard, you might end up sounding like UCLA Professor Emeritus of Art History David Kunzle, who compared Jesus Christ unfavorably to the chief executioner for a totalitarian dictator at a seminar hosted at his university:

Kunzle was invited by the Department of Religion to make Wednesday’s presentation, titled, “Chesucristo: The Fusion in Image and Word of Che Guevara and Jesus Christ,” which was based largely on his book of the same name.

Young people, their parents, and of course taxpayers cough up tens of $thousands per student per year for enlightenment like this:

“Che Guevara, once the epitome of armed struggle, has evolved to an avatar of justice, peace, and love, as Jesus always was but no longer is exclusively,” Kunzle said. The professor referred to Guevara’s portrayal in one of the slides of his presentation as “a quasi-divine cosmic force.” During the course of the lecture, Kunzle labeled Jesus “leader of an armed guerilla struggle against Rome” and drew a parallel between Guevara’s execution and Jesus’ death.

Who knew that Jesus led an armed guerilla struggle against Rome? That’s why college profs make the big bucks. You can learn things from them that you never would in Sunday school.

During the worship service, Kunzle babbled that “As God created light — is light — Che is radiance,” and referred to the name Che as a “sacred trinity of letters.”

It is not hyperbole to say that progressives literally worship evil.

The event was mainly attended by UCLA faculty and staff, who can be counted on to disseminate Kunzle’s religious views throughout the student body. They reportedly responded enthusiastically to his grotesque and blasphemous presentation.

To prove that the communist executioner was just like Jesus Christ except better,

Kunzle showed photos depicting Guevara with a halo, his head with a crown of thorns, and Guevara as Christ with the Virgin Mary hovering over him. Guevara was also shown graphically crucified in the nude in place of Jesus at Calvary, with Bolivian soldiers standing in for Romans and peasants acting as the apostles.

Bolivia did the world a major favor by killing Guevara when he tried to institute the wretched totalitarianism there that he had already helped impose on Cuba.

As documented by Cuban escapee Humberto Fontova, Che Guevara was a sick fiend:

“When you saw the beaming look on Che’s face as his victims were tied to the stake and blasted apart by the firing squad,” said a former Cuban political prisoner to this writer, “you saw there was something seriously, seriously wrong with Che Guevara.”

As commander of the La Cabana execution yard, Che often shattered the skull of the condemned man (or boy) by firing the coup de grace himself. …

Even as a youth, Ernesto Guevara’s writings revealed a serious malevolence. This passage is from Ernesto Guevara’s famous The Motorcycle Diaries: “My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood. Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any vencido that falls in my hands! With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial howl!” …

The Spanish word vencido translates into “defeated” or “surrendered,” but “the “acrid odor of gunpowder and blood” to reach Guevara’s nostrils very rarely came from anything remotely describable as combat, but from the close-range murders of unarmed and defenseless men and boys.

Like their idol, those who worship Che Guevara are also sick fiends. They use their control of education to infect others with their sickness.
