SAT Rigged to Discriminate Against Whites

The problem with aptitude tests is that politically disfavored groups score higher than politically favored groups, because they are on average significantly more intelligent. College admission boards counter this by taking into account “diversity” factors at the expense of achievement and aptitude.

People have understandably objected to this racial favoritism. Harvard is getting sued for discriminating against Asians. Voters in California and Washington banned Affirmative Action admissions.

Now educrats have a new solution, so clever that no one will figure out what they are up to. They have rigged one of the major aptitude tests so that blacks get higher scores. The SAT will now feature a special score:

This new number, called an adversity score by college admissions officers, is calculated using 15 factors including the crime rate and poverty levels from the student’s high school and neighborhood. Students won’t be told the scores, but colleges will see the numbers when reviewing their applications.

The score correlates with race and is a proxy for it.

“Adversity” is a typically Orwellian term. You want adversity, try being an upwardly mobile middle class white or Asian in a country run by moonbats who systematically discriminate against them.

Fifty colleges are already using this tactic to discriminate. Evidently, the rest will soon follow.

Here’s why they need to jigger the scores to get the results they want:

White students scored an average of 177 points higher than black students and 133 points higher than Hispanic students in 2018 results.

Since it would be blasphemy to suggest that whites are more intelligent or even that they apply themselves more effectively, this is framed in openly Marxist terms. Barks David Coleman, chief executive of the College Board:

“We can’t sit on our hands and ignore the disparities of wealth reflected in the SAT.”

Obama’s “You didn’t build that” mentality has now been applied to aptitude tests. If you score high because you are smart, they will take your score away by artificially inflating someone else’s score. This injustice will be inflicted on the grounds that your parents have money, probably reflecting that they are smart too and passed their smart genes along to you. This makes you privileged, and privileged people are bad — as you would learn in your classes if they let you into school.

To achieve universal mediocrity — or as liberals call it, “equity” — these lunatics are trying to coercively redistribute ability.

Racial discrimination against whites and Asians is already a major problem in higher education. That doesn’t mean moonbats can’t make it worse:

James Conroy, director of college counseling at New Trier High School, which serves several affluent and mostly white communities north of Chicago, said the focus on diversity by elite colleges is already high and the adversity score would magnify that.

For every undeserving politically preferred minority who gets into a school despite not belonging there, a white or Asian who does belong there has been unjustly displaced so that liberals can bask in depraved self-righteousness.

Several college admissions officers said they worry the Supreme Court may disallow race-based affirmative action. If that happens, the value of the tool would rise, they said.

So long as the education system is thoroughly infested with progressives, they will always find a work-around so as to continue discarding merit and putting the screws to regular Americans.
