Why 85% of Solar System Must Be Nature Preserve

Moonbats who can no longer generate enough senseless anxiety from the global warming hoax are invited to fret about the fate of the solar system. A study finds that it is in peril of overexploitation:

The study, published April 16 in the journal Acta Astronautica, makes a case for designating 85% of our solar system a protected “wilderness” akin to Earth’s national parks, leaving just one-eighth of eligible planets, moons and asteroids free to be mined or developed by human interests.

According to the study,

humans could deplete the solar system of all of its water, iron and other mineable resources in a matter of centuries — potentially leaving the solar system a dried-up wasteland in as little as 500 years.

“Then, we are done,” warn the authors.

Let’s play along with these space cadets and pretend that we will be doomed when we use up all the resources in 500 years. If we set 85% of the solar system off limits, that means we will run out of resources in 75 years (15% of 500 years). What happens then? Will we be doomed at that point, or will we say, screw those moonbats, we’re exploiting the other 85% before moving on to other solar systems?

Limiting the exploitation of resources on other worlds now, before the space economy kicks off in earnest, is crucial to avoiding what the researchers call a “crisis of potentially catastrophic proportions.”

I haven’t been this scared since Al Gore proclaimed that the planet has a fever.

Aren’t any of the “experts” concerned that if there is a real crisis, no one will take their warnings seriously?
