RNC Breaks Fundraising Records, Credits Approval for Trump
The Republican National Committee (RNC) has had several record fundraising milestones in 2019. The RNC pulled in a record-breaking $45.8 million in the first quarter of the year. In April, the group shattered it’s fundraising milestones by raking in $15.5 million for a total of $61.8 million for the 2019-2020 campaign season. Major donors who contributed to the RNC last month, included Michigan businessman Jon Cotton and investor, businessman and long-time GOP donor Robert Mercer.
The RNC credits these record fundraising efforts to the high approval rating for President Trump. An average of eight different polls shows the President’s current approval rating hovering at 43%, ranging from 40% (Reuters/Ipsos) to 46% (Fox News). The RNC’s press release stated, “our record-breaking April fundraising haul is yet another example of the outstanding leadership of Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel along with the overwhelming grassroots support for President Trump, and the winning results of a Republican-led agenda.”

The RNC spent $13.5 million in March nearly half of which was used for continued fundraising efforts. The organization ended the month with $33.1 million in cash. The RNC boasts that it is completely debt-free. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has only raised $ 20.9M in Q1 of 2019. The DNC states it is currently $6.6M in debt. In 2018 the DNC says it was $18 million in debt after winning the House of Representatives.
