AOC’s Border Lies Debunked

Unless you have managed to avoid all exposure to the media recently, you have heard Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shrieking that US Customs and Border Protection forces sacred illegal aliens to drink out of toilets. Like everything else AOC pierces our ears with, this is untrue:

A CBP official denied the toilet accusations on Monday, insisting that the locations Ocasio-Cortez visited have standard-issue jail-type appliances with sinks that dispense safe drinking water attached to toilets in a single unit.

“‘No one is drinking toilet water,” the official said. “They’re drinking potable water from the sink attached to the toilet.” It’s what you would find in every municipal jail in the United States.”

Until recently, AOC didn’t even know what a garbage disposal is, so it is possible that such an appliance would confuse her.

Her claim that CBP officers were “physically & sexually threatening” toward her is more certain to be a deliberate lie. In reality, it is AOC who behaved threateningly:

[AOC] screamed at federal law enforcement agents “in a threatening manner” during a visit to a Border Patrol facility in El Paso, Texas, and refused to tour the facility, according to two people who witnessed the incident.

She also behaved like a paranoid lunatic:

“The agents are standing there behind the computers. One of the agents laughed at something he was saying to another agent, and she got irate and flipped out,” [a] Border Patrol official said. “Now they’re under investigation for it. She took it as they were laughing at her and screams at them and says, ‘What’s so funny?’”

Yet again we see that the Future of the Democrat Party is not the sort of person it would be sane to trust with power.

AOC also accuses border officials of threatening her life in a “secret Facebook group” brought to light by radical ProPublica (previously known for harassing Republican politicians in restaurants), which the media has been exploiting as part of an apparently coordinated campaign to demonize and discredit the Border Patrol as it struggles to defend the country from a massive invasion with minimal help from the Democrat-controlled Congress.

Hispanic pastor Samuel Rodriguez toured the same El Paso County border facility with other clergy and confirmed that AOC’s account of conditions is, to put it mildly, inaccurate:

The president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, the world’s largest Hispanic Christian organization, and senior pastor of New Seasons Christian Worship Center in Sacramento shared his firsthand experience touring a migrant detention center during a press briefing Monday. …

“We found no soiled diapers, no deplorable conditions and no lack of basic necessities,” Rodriguez remarked…

The pastors left encouraged by the commitment and dedication of America’s Border Patrol and immigration officers, “many of which are Latinos, by the way.”

Pastor Carlos Moran, an NHCLC board member and an immigrant, called “on our political leaders to set aside their personal agendas and begin focusing on resolving this immigration crisis.”

That would refer most obviously to AOC, who actually voted against humanitarian aid to alleviate the conditions that she mischaracterizes in order to exploit.
