Illegal Aliens and Human Traffickers Incentivized to Acquire Children

Often the disastrous “unexpected” consequences that attend liberal policies are so easily foreseeable that progressives are as responsible for them as if they had inflicted the damage out of deliberate malice rather than sanctimonious virtue-signaling foolishness. For example, they have created a situation in which towing a child along as you illegally sneak into the USA is as good as having a visa — even better, considering that it allows illegal aliens not only to ignore immigration law but also to collect generous welfare benefits. This lunacy has made children into a commodity in high demand in the cutthroat realm of human trafficking. Mr. Magoo could have seen this coming:

Some migrants in Tijuana are trying to purchase children from vulnerable single mothers in local shelters so they can more easily cross into the United States, according to shelter directors, migrants and Tijuana law enforcement authorities. …

Pastor Gustavo Banda, a Tijuana shelter director, said families at the shelter are terrified and feel forced to keep all their children locked inside at all times. …

It is unclear whether the men approaching the shelter are trying to use the children for their own passage or for others who wish to cross.

It is also unclear what will happen to the little kids after they have served their purpose.

If no willing sellers can be found, children will inevitably be taken by force. Here’s why they are so valuable:

Typically, when migrants are apprehended at the border with their children they are held in custody for a few days before they are released. Single adults who cross the border can face months in detention.

This could be fixed easily — but not without cooperation from Democrats, which is unlikely to be forthcoming. Why should they help solve a crisis that their allies in the media can turn to their advantage? Dead children make for effective propaganda, as we learned during the Syrian invasion of Europe.

Rather than help protect children from danger, Democrats are doubling down on exploiting them:

This might be a good time to remind everyone that the border bill passed in the House and pushed by Nancy Pelosi contained a provision specifically stating that the U.S. Government would have to broadcast information about the child accompaniment policy outside of the United States so potential asylum applicants could be made aware of it. And what did she think was going to happen when we did that? Suddenly everyone who shows up at the fence is going to have a child with them.

Their child, or someone else’s.

Border authorities recently came across a 10-year-old girl with semen from 20 different men inside her body. She was accompanied by a faux family member. That’s what Democrats are willing to enable to keep the illegal immigration floodgates open.
