VCN Charlottesville Watch Party

The Virginia General Assembly 2019 session will be here before you know it!

In preparation for legislative session, the Virginia Conservation Network and its network partners are convening for a preview of what’s in store for our natural resources. Join us Saturday, Dec. 1, to learn about priority natural resource topics and discuss our collective approach to advancing good environmental policies in the upcoming legislative session.

You can attend the event in person in Richmond, or stay here and join us for the Charlottesville Watch Party! Appalachian Voices and Piedmont Environmental Council are co-hosting the local watch party, one of seven around the state. (See schedule below.) We’ll watch a live stream of VCN’s presentations happening in Richmond in real-time, then have our own discussion about issues that matter to you. Appalachian Voices, PEC and VCN staff will be on hand to answer questions.

• Achieving safe and responsible closure of coal ash ponds
• Fighting climate change and sea level rise by joining the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
• Securing funding in the budget for our conservation priorities, including Chesapeake Bay cleanup programs, land conservation, and natural resources agency funding

• Protecting Virginians from the costs of unnecessary fracked gas pipelines
• Ensuring the Commonwealth provides localities with appropriate tools to address the high cost of new development
• Breaking down barriers to small-scale solar
