Ye Ghosts Of Terror Yet To Come

At the root of all belief in life after death is the powerful human idea of immortality. I believe that it is hard for most of us to comprehend the idea of God giving us life only to erase it without the chance of even surviving to do something better. Although the prevailing orthodoxy tells us there is a heaven and hell and that after the final judgment this is all there is, I would hope to think there may be something more to the story.

We know the physical body disintegrates in the grave, but the mind and the soul are things that we hope remain or at least move on to a higher evolutionary transcendence. The personality of a person cannot disintegrate, the soul and essence of someone has not the tangible matter to decay and rot away.

So the big mystery is where these signature attributes go when they leave the physical body? There really is not a clear idea as to where all of this charged energy goes. Does it remain with the corpse, or does it linger and eventually appear creating what we call a haunting?

It appears 2015 was a banner year for demonic haunting and ghost appearances cited in the mainstream media.

The Catholic church stepped up to the plate and was preaching that a demonic cloud was all over the world and Pope Francis was dead serious about how demons are now toying with us and how we are seeing an increase in possessions and sightings of anomalous phantoms in various places around the world.

It was just a year before that there were many stories in the mainstream news about various hauntings of various houses. One that most certainly got a lot of media attention was the haunting of Latoya Ammon’s Gary, Indiana home.

She still “swears by her story” of demonic possession, supernatural happenings, and unexplainable phenomena in her house. The house has since been exorcised and was recently bought by Zak Bagans, who is the host of ‘Ghost Adventurers.’

Stories of aggressive spirits and even demonic denizens can be traced back historically and even biblically. The most impressive and dramatic story of the casting out of evil spirits can be found in the New Testament gospels where Jesus frees the possessed Gadarene from a legion of demons.

Just last week, Israeli archaeologists unearthed a 1,500-year-old marble slab with Hebrew inscriptions near Kursi, the spot traditionally associated with the miracle of Christ’s banishment of demons into a herd of swine.

Archeologists believe the slab to be a commemoration tablet dating from around 500 AD. The inscription in Hebrew begins with the words, “Remembered for good.”

The University of Haifa researchers found the marble on the eastern shores of the Sea of Galilee, in Kursi, the historically Gentile district of the Decapolis.

On the slab, scientists also identified the words “amen” and “marmaria,” which could refer to marble or to Mary, Jesus’ mother.

Kursi has been identified in Christian tradition with Gadarenes, where the Miracle of the Swine took place. In the fifth and sixth centuries, a Christian church was built to mark the spot of the biblical location but was destroyed by invading Persians in 614 AD and, after being rebuilt, was demolished by fire shortly afterward. The site remained abandoned for most of the following 1,300 years.

The church was lost to history until it was uncovered by accident during the building of a new road in 1970.

Archaeological excavations continued at the site from 1970-74. Around the vicinity of the church, caves are still visible, and there is a mountain that drops down into the sea, such as described in the biblical account.

Christ’s trip to the land of the Gadarenes (Kursi) was one of his rare visits to Gentile territory, which also explains the presence of the herd of pigs, which was forbidden to the Jews. Jesus Himself had said that He was sent only “to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

The biblical description of the miracle is one of the most evocative in the entire Gospel. Recounted by Matthew, Mark, and Luke with different nuances, the Gospels depict Jesus in one of His most direct confrontations with evil or unclean spirits.

Mark describes the possessed man as fiercely strong and dangerous. Local citizens had tried in vain to restrain him with shackles and chains, but he broke them to pieces. The man lived among the tombs, howling night and day and gashing himself with stones. He terrified the people so much that no one dared go near.

On seeing Jesus approach, the man ran and bowed down before him, while the demons inside him howled and begged Jesus not to torment them.

Jesus, meanwhile, was ordering them out of the body of the man. When Jesus commanded the demons to identify themselves, they replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”

Jesus then cast the demons into a herd of about 2,000 pigs grazing on a nearby hillside. The pigs rushed headlong down the steep bank into the sea, where they drowned, to the utter amazement and shock of the townspeople.

The healed demoniac was later given clothes ad was back to his full senses, begged Jesus to take him back with him, but Jesus told him to stay and preach of God’s mercy to his family and friends.

This story has always signified to me just how desperate evil spirits are to occupy the bodies of the living. The Legion of demons inside one man had to break free and when they did they begged Christ to occupy living hosts – Jesus was not about to cast these demonic spirits into humans—so he saw it fit to cast them into sine and then have them run off of a cliff into the sea to eliminate them.

While I have been involved with all kinds of paranormal investigations that are pleasant, it would be disingenuous to say that I have not encountered paranormal spirits or ghosts that seem to be demonic or mischievous. I recall that I was called to a home in Utah where during a séance a spirit became aggressive. The family was being tormented by a spirit that in life was an old fundamentalist Mormon school teacher, who repeatedly raped his mentally retarded daughter, he eventually suffocated her with a pillow. The home became a portal for very hostile and aggressive “wrath” activity.

Wrath activity is where an anomalous force is felt or experienced by an investigator of the paranormal. Wrath activity is not necessarily evil, but it can be aggressive and sometimes deadly.

The Wrath activity happens when a metaphysical ghost experienced some powerful rage at the time of its death. There appears to be a new aggressive nature to spirits that wish to harm or possessed humans.

The question is why are we now hearing more about aggressive spirits in a world where most of the time their contact has been peaceful like when a dead loved one appears to assure us that all is well?

Cultures all over the planet are encouraging their people to accept domination and manipulation. The question is for what purpose and for what outcome? Is there actually a force or perhaps a group of entities that are controlling us from some nebulous realm?

Are they encouraging or somehow beckoning us to fall on our knees as slaves and be sore afraid of the future? Does a fear of the future project a form of telekinetic transference to the ether beckoning spirits of wrath to subdue attack and possess the living?

While you go about your daily routine, you probably do not stop to think about the cycle of life and death. Try to picture the inhabitants of earth as a giant herd of cattle. Each cow has a purpose in the herd. Many get the privilege of just grazing and chewing their cud. Some are breeders; others are used for resources like milk, cheese and butter. There are others that are thinned out in order to keep the population at a manageable size.

There are some in the herd that are sensitive to many things, primarily heat and cold. There are others that are aware and are sensitive to what is happening around the herd and at times they can project themselves outside of it, looking down on it, seeing activities simultaneously.

There is really no rhyme nor reason as to why they see things differently. – It is a gift or a curse depending on how you look at it.

Statistics vary, but it’s generally accepted that between 3 and 10% of the population are more sensitive to paranormal experiences.

Have you ever felt that you are genuinely experiencing something beyond your comprehension and you just can’t nail down exactly what you are experiencing? You tell yourself that perhaps you are losing your mind until you find someone else who shares that same paranormal experience.

Our thoughts and conjectures about life and the universe are often based on assumptions, unproven theories, hearsay, rumors and misinformation. Decisions we make in life may be based on ancient attitudes and archaic practices. Mythologies, astrology, prophecy both biblical and non-biblical shape the way we see the world.

Beyond the voices are the visions of precognitive and retro-cognitive experiences. In the ether of the subconscious we replay all of the experiences we have had, and at other moments we have dreams that are precognitive that sometimes warn us of great danger.

Those visions that leap from the ether into our dimensional reality are apparitions, discarnate spirits, or telepathic or telekinetic impressions. As we proceed down the road to telekinetic powers, we can also witness the gift fire starting, where the subject can look at an object and have it burst into flame.

Charles Dickens the author of “A Christmas Carol” always added an element of the paranormal to convey a lesson—his four ghosts that appear to Ebenezer Scrooge are very aggressive and torment him in the nights prior to Christmas day. Marley was a frightening specter that looked hideous and inhuman.

The Ghost of Christmas Present appears and just prior to the arrival of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, he lifts his heavy cloak and reveals two emaciated children with hollowed out black eyes. He calls the boy, Ignorance and the girl, Want.

On the forehead of the boy was a mark. The mark meant doom. When Dickens wrote his tale of an old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge, it was estimated that nearly half of all funerals in London were for children under the age of ten.

They would be interred in pauper’s cemeteries. In those times there was a story about the graveyard watchers or the L’ankou. The L’ankou was draped and hooded to hide his pale and wiry frame.

The legend comes from the old Celtic legends of Brittany or the lesser “Britain.”

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, legends would persist that the hooded figure would sometimes appear at Christmas Eve mass and if you were touched by his cloak you would die within the year. There were many historians that would write in their journals that the L’ankou would appear after the appearances of comets and fireballs.

If anyone was to see a hooded figure in their town, their town would be cursed with plague and dysentery. Dickens used this figure to represent the future, because death was inevitable in times of greed and ignorance.

The hooded figure of Christmas yet to come was a threatening spirit that said nothing but threw Scrooge from shadow after shadow of the future – keeping him in horror and torment until he showed him what he would become – dead and forgotten.

He would be dead carrying the burden and chains of a damned soul—just like his friend Jacob Marley. Damned souls have tendency to be angry and full of wrath. They are the aggressive darker spirits that in life may have been troubled, unruly, menacing, violent even murderous.

Carl Jung had expressed that all humans have inherited a set of primordial images that are buried deep in the collective unconscious. These are called Archetypes and they tend to remain buried within the unconscious mind. Deep down we respond to them and they are programmed into us through religion, art, literature and films. The shadow archetype is the most dangerous one of all. Shadow archetypes have tendency to invade thoughts and when those shadowy thoughts become “group think” there is the possibility that through some quantum trick a manifestation can take place.

The shadow archetype becomes a real breathing entity fortified with the groupthink that prolongs its life and its image can be a harbinger to some other event that will eventually cause hardship.

As I have said 2015 has been a banner year for aggressive spirits, we have read about them in the mainstream news and have seen them attack various ghost hunting groups on cable television shows.

Three years ago, I was attacked by a spirit that claimed on a Ghost Box that he was the Zodiac Killer. We had a session with the spirit and he spoke to us through what s called a ghost box or a “Franks Box.” There is no doubt that what we recorded was an entity that claimed to have murdered 7 people.

While I was broadcasting on the air during a live remote, I was interviewing Crystal Willett of the paranormal group that was doing the investigation with Northwest Ghost Recon. I was asking her some very direct questions about her relationship with this ghost that claimed to be the Zodiac. She answered many of my questions. However, half way through my interview with her she broke down and cried. I could see the terror in her face and I felt helpless and needed to somehow gain control of my show while still trying to help her.

Whatever triggered the fears, it decided to come after me. I felt my throat close up and I began to choke. My body began to freeze up, there was a cold sensation that moved down by back into my legs and my muscles felt like they were going to burst. I couldn’t continue the show, and lost all control of my emotions. I felt like I was going to die, and all I could do was cry out and leave the table where I was broadcasting.

I have never been physically attacked by a ghost before and I realized that perhaps I was not fit enough to be in the same room with an aggressive spirit that could over power me. I was just out of the hospital from my third cancer surgery and didn’t realize how a weak body would not be able to withstand an attack from an aggressive ghost.

Recently, the Ground Zero Staff along with members of Northwest Recon decided to throw a Krampus holiday party at a place called Renner’s Grill in a place known as Multnomah Village. The pub was located just across the street from “Fat City” a restaurant where we found out through a major ghost investigation and various electronic voice phenomena to be haunted by Humphrey Bogart’s third wife, Mayo Methot.

It was a great party and a great turn out. After I dressed up as Krampus and had a bit of dinner, I was also given a strange doll from two women who claimed that it was haunted and hoped we could cast out whatever bad mojo was inside the doll. The doll was creepy, dressed in a blue Dutch boy suit, kneeling a prayerful position and never staying still unless it was laying face down on a table. I even had a girl beg me to give her the doll because she wanted to use it to scare her friends. I held onto it in case it was really haunted – and it started doing strange things.

After all haunted houses are one thing – but haunted dolls are very, very frightening.

Steve, the owner of Renner’s, had told us that the entire area of Multnomah Village was haunted and shared with us several stories of murder and mayhem in many of the merchants store fronts. He told us that Renner’s was extremely haunted and while we are at the party, we should do a ghost investigation.

Roger Clooten and Chris Reeve’s of Northwest Ghost Recon were joined by Roger’s girlfriend, Cassie in the investigation. Janine and I were also monitoring some of the new software that was being used. In an investigation with a large crowd it is impossible to gather EVP or ghost voices and so Roger decided to use the Ovilus, an electronic device that allegedly picks up frequency changes assigns then a number which is then matched with a random word. The word is then spoken by the program. Many say that it is like using a Magic 8 Ball for divination however on this night the words that were being uttered by the program all had meaning to the owner Steve Potter.

Names were called out by the program like “Elizabeth” and “cousin.” Steve said that one of his waitresses Elizabeth had a cousin who recently died. Roger called Elizabeth and confirmed this. There were references to a clock in the bar. The clock was a strange clock that went backwards and hidden in the back was a note from an old colleague of Steve’s.

His colleague had passed away but before he did he gave him the clock. There were many other words that the Ovilus used that were relevant to the investigation. As the night carried on it was time for Roger and Cassie to set up cameras in an area that was said to be the most haunted. I went upstairs with Janine to witness the set up of the cameras – Roger had asked Janine and I if we would monitor the downstairs computer that had the new software called Skeletal Viewer that is used with X-Box Kinect technology. The software is successful in detecting entities that you can’t see but are there.

As Janine and I were talking to a listener near the computer a stick figured entity appeared on the screen right behind Janine—it appeared to be standing near the women’s restroom but there was no one there. By the time we wanted to point it out – the figure darted upward and disappeared.

Within minutes of the appearance of the image and the abrupt disappearance, roger came running down the stairs with his girlfriend Cassie. She was doubled over and in pain. She was burning up and feeling nauseated. Janine and Roger quickly rushed her outside near Roger’s truck and a tree. Cassie needed to sit down. Roger wanted to snap pictures of her to document what happened and just above her was an entity that looked like a miasma with a face looking down at her. As she was fighting off the entity she received scratches and huge welts and bruises on her arms. She was rendered very weak and wanted to go home. We immediately shut down the computer with the Kinect software and ran out of the bar. We didn’t say goodbye to Steve nor did we thank him for his hospitality—we didn’t even take down the video equipment upstairs – we left it there – and the investigation was terminated.

In this time where we are deluged with stress and chaos, it is often difficult to be positive with the hardships and misgivings we all can feel about our future. We may not show it on the surface, but deep down we feel the pain and suffering of those around us. It is because we are all connected in some way. Things in our world are changing rapidly. We are all waking up to the possibility that our lives are hanging in the balance.

I am thinking that perhaps the stress and anxiety in the world is somehow transferring into the realms of the ether and through some psychokinetic tension the spirits that were once passive are becoming angrier, impatient and wanting to somehow infiltrate and invade the bodies of the living.

They leave their marks by a means of dermographism. They leave scratches welts and bruises on unsuspecting people. This marking and bruising is of particular interest when it comes to the element of stress, as many times investigators or victims are anxious or fearful about their situation. Relative to investigators becoming victims of an alleged demon attack, it is important to note that they too, can become irritated, frightened, and anxious while on investigations. This can send a message of vulnerability and the entity will try to enter in when the person is at their weakest. This can happen when a person is sick, tired, drunk, or on drugs.

In the true occult sense, strange scratches and bruises are made on the body to demoralize its victim.

Whatever entity attacked that night has a problem with women and took its frustrations out on Cassie.

The idea that most of the newly reported cases of wrath activity can also be attributed to times where we are all full of anxiety and anger which most certainly trigger the release of what Carl Jung called dark archetypes.

Perhaps the newly found paranormal world view can all be summed up in the idea that yes, we do live in a demon haunted world and the demons are conjured up by our own thoughts and will.
