Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3: 20,21

How big is our God? Can He heal us? Can He change our circumstances? Is He really all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere at once? Do we really believe what is written in our Bibles? Do we embrace the supernatural world knowing that He is ABLE to do all things?

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think,

When we read this verse we must realize that when we ask Him, through our prayers to intervene, it is not for our glory or riches so, we can spend it on ourselves. It is always for the kingdom… period. Either directly or indirectly.

Here’s an example. When I pray for sales of our books and DVD’s some might think it’s a selfish prayer. However, that prayer is to keep our research and ministry going. I need His favor. I need His direction. Knowing this I pray believing that He in charge and is ABLE!

He recently re-directed our steps, which is why we created the film on Fatima. I was already shooting something else, another film and He gave me one word, Fatima. I went into the kitchen and told Peggy: We’re going to Fatima. He provided the funds to get there when someone out-of-the-blue donated 5k to us. That donation paid for the trip! He is able.

according to the power at work within us,

What power is this? It is the power of the Spirit of the Living God who dwells in every believer. This power is not some star-wars-like force, but is the power that raised Jesus up from the dead. It is the comforter who will guide us and teach us in all things. The third person of the Trinity.

As I stated earlier it’s all about the kingdom not us. “To Him be glory.” Paul points out where the glory is located. The first place is the church, the gathering of believers, in other words, it’s not the building, it’s the people who have come to a knowledge of Messiah, our savior. Then he states, in Christ Jesus, once again pointing us back to the one who created all things and gave His life for our redemption at Calvary. 

Finally he states this: throughout all generations, forever and ever.

Are these idle words or is Paul pointing to the eternal? I think it’s the latter. Forever is a very long time and when we find ourselves in our glorified bodies at some point in the future, we will begin to understand the full meaning of this verse. Ask Him for He is able!

He is Able!
