Nikki Haley Prepares for One Final Showdown Against the UN General Assembly to Pass Historic Resolution Against Hamas

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley isn’t leaving the U.N. quietly, as she is going to make the General Assembly acknowledge and condemn the anti-Israel terrorist group Hamas before she goes.

According to Fox News, Haley and the U.S. has been working for months to get the General Assembly to condemn the terrorist organization, who continuously lobs rockets and attacks innocent Israeli civilians even as the U.N. continues to condemn Israel for so much as sneezing in the wrong direction:

The U.S. has been prodding the United Nations to name and condemn Hamas for months, even as the U.N. passes resolution after resolution criticizing and condemning alleged crimes and international law breaches by Israel. Hamas has been in control of Gaza, where roughly 2 million Palestinians live, since 2007 and has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel in recent months.

A draft of the non-binding resolution, seen by Fox News, condemns Hamas for “repeatedly firing rockets into Israel and for inciting violence, thereby putting civilians at risk.” It would also demand that Hamas “and other militant actors, including Palestinian Islamic Jihad,” cease all provocative and violent actions; and condemn Hamas efforts to construct tunnels to infiltrate Israel and launch rockets into civilian areas.

This would be the first condemnation of Hamas from the U.N. General Assembly if it passes.

While this should be a no-brainer, Haley is expecting serious resistance from many in the assembly. For instance, Kuwait’s ambassador and chairman of The Arab Group told reporters Thursday that he would ask for a requirement that two-thirds of members vote in favor for the resolution to pass. Normally votes require a simple majority and requiring a two-thirds vote will likely sink the resolution.

Haley has been working behind the scenes with other ambassadors to push this resolution, nothing that “not one of these resolutions ever mentions Hamas or other militant groups in Gaza.”

That a resolution of condemnation hasn’t yet been passed against Hamas, a legitimate terrorist group, doesn’t speak well against the U.N., which has seemingly ramped up its anti-Israel sentiments ever since Donald Trump became president.

If Haley does successfully pass this resolution, then it will be a landmark event for her and the U.S. as a whole.
