The US is the only western country that legalises Marriage with a child under the age of 18.
33 states allows for marriage when a child is 14. Reasoning behind is that if a child is pregnant, it is better to get married and have support. These laws are usually in states with poor acces to sexual health.
Hell, Alabama only changed the law to 16 when an American man age 74 wanted to marry a 14 year old girl
The State Department does not make laws for the U.S. They have no authority to approve anything.
Laws are laws and it is not the job of the state department to grant anything at all. Proclamation
is not the job of the state department. The Job of the State department is to create diplomacy with
other countries, not their job to grant other countries immigrants “rights” in any manner. They are
in dangerous waters, thinking that they can “grant” anything. NOT THEIR JOB.
