SPLC President Richard Cohen Abandons Sinking Ship

After all these years, where were you when the stock of the Poverty Palace crashed and collapsed under the weight of its own hypocrisy, uselessness and sleaze?

“MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The president of the Southern Poverty Law Center told staff members on Friday that he would step down from the crusading civil rights nonprofit, which has been roiled by charges of racism and sexual harassment and ousted its co-founder last week.

Richard Cohen, the president of the S.P.L.C. since 2003, cited “recent events” in an email to staff members on Friday, writing that he had asked the center’s board to open a search for an interim president “in order to give the organization the best chance to heal.”

“Whatever problems exist at the S.P.L.C. happened on my watch, so I take responsibility for them,” Mr. Cohen wrote.

Mr. Cohen’s leadership of the center, one of the nation’s wealthiest and best known nonprofit groups, has been under siege in recent weeks. …”

I’m not exaggerating when I say this development is going to save lives. It will immediately start to detoxify our public discourse. It is like watching biggest dumpster in this city go up in flames. From one end to the other, everyone is shouting IT’S ABOUT TIME!

Chairman Yang needs to come to Montgomery as soon as possible. We need to launch a trial version of Universal Basic Income buy turning Morris Dees and Richard Cohen’s piggy bank into a regionwide ATM. Everyone who actually lives in the Alabama Black Belt should be able to withdraw $1,000 bucks a month from its bloated $319 million dollar endowment. It will stimulate the economy of the entire area as ordinary people cart away their share of the loot these con artists made off their predicament. No one black or white in Alabama will be at all mad with each other.

It will be one big party!

I actually feel quite disgusted by the way cities like Selma and Tuskegee were used to further an absurd narrative of triumph over “white supremacy” while they rotted before my eyes. When Chairman Yang is president, we will start to rebuild the Great Plantation that is the Black Belt except this time we will enslave robots and redistribute their wealth to ourselves.
