Judge Who Upheld Congressional Subpoena For Trump’s Tax Is A Major Democratic Donor

House Democrats were elated on Monday after U.S. District Court Judge Amit P. Mehta ruled in their favor. Judge Mehta concluded that President Trump’s accounting firm, Mazars USA, must turn over eight years of his financial records to the House Oversight Committee, and he also denied Trump’s request for a stay pending appeal.

It is well known that Judge Mehta was an Obama appointee, but what is less well known is his extensive history of donations to Democratic candidates and PACs.

GOP Strategist Andrew Surabian has provided a link to a list of Mehta’s political donations from 2007 through 2018.

Sure is interesting how the media has thus far missed this factoid, isn’t it? Now lets play a game & imagine that the same Judge was a Trump donor & ruled in his favor here…Something tells me this would be all over CNN tonight & the talking heads would be screaming, corruption!

He did donate to Mitt Romney, but he is not a genuine Republican.

The history shows he made four donations to candidate Barack Obama, five to Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, and a whopping ten donations to a Political Action Committee that looks to be affiliated with his radiology practice. There are 33 donations listed.

Can anyone say “conflict of interest?”

Their given reason for requiring Trump’s financial records is that, during his House testimony in February, former personal attorney Michael Cohen told lawmakers that Trump “routinely manipulated the value of his assets and liabilities on financial statements, depending on what his goals were. For example, Cohen said, he would inflate estimates to obtain loans, but would deflate assets’ value to calculate real estate taxes.”

So, the Committee said it “wants to look at the records so it can see if financial disclosure and ethics laws are working.”

As you might recall, Cohen testified on Capitol Hill at exactly the same time President Trump was meeting with Kim Jong Un at the Vietnam Summit.

Trump’s lawyers have argued that the Democrats’ request is “illegitimate.”

Judge Mehta was not satisfied. He wrote, “To be sure, there are limits on Congress’s investigative authority. But those limits do not substantially constrain Congress. So long as Congress investigates on a subject matter on which ‘legislation could be had,’ Congress acts as contemplated by Article I of the Constitution.”

Trump has no intention of turning over his tax records to House Dems, and his lawyers have already filed an appeal.

The FISA documents, the recordings of George Papadopoulos’ meetings with FBI informants, release them now Mr. President.
