NDA to form government, BJP to win 260 seats, Modi to secure second term: Athawale

Union minister Ramdas Athawale showed his confidence Friday that NDA would form the next government, Bharatiya Janata Party to cross winning 260 seats ad Modi will again become prime minister of India.
Addressing to a press conference he said, “The BJP would win at least 260 Lok Sabha seats. In Maharashtra, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will get 37 to 38 seats as against the 42 in 2014.”
Athawale said the alliance between Prakash Ambedkar-led Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh and Asaduddin Qwaisi-led MIM would not work and both are to benefit the BJP.
He supported the remarks of Modi against former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. He said the Congress leader was indulged in corruption in the Bofors deal when he was leading the country.
Emphasizing on the concern of NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s concerns over EVMs he said to be supporting ballot paper system in 2024 elections.
He talked about pending irrigation projects in the Vidarbha region and said those need to be completed soon.
Athawale added, “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar had suggested river linking project in those days. Had it been carried out, there would not have been water scarcity anywhere in Maharashtra. But the suggestion was ignored by the previous governments.”
