Doctor of death?

Dr. Arnon Dar looks grim. He often appears grim, especially when discussing how the Earth will be sterilized by a cosmic catastrophe.

Who is this grim man? Dar is a scientist with the Technion Space Research Institute and one of the world’s experts on expanding beams of deadly radiation and particles that wipe out life on any planet in their path. It happen on Earth like clockwork and, he says, is the main reason for continuing mass extinctions throughout our planet’s geological history.

Supermassive stars are usually the culprit and as they collapse into a black hole they propigate waves of death that sterilize every planet they touch.

“It is a certainty; the timescales are comparable to mass extinctions seen in Earth’s geological record,” Dar explained to the BBC News Online.

Death Beam To Kill Earth

When supermassive stars die, they take alot of planets with them into their death spiral. There’s no way to escape it, unless you could shield the entire planet.

Gamma-ray beams are shot across the galaxy and the sub-atomic particles that follow slam into plantes and tear apart the molecular bonds of any living thing: bateria, insects, fish…people.

When such a beam slams into Earth, he warns, “…the effects would be totally devastating, unlike anything we could imagine.”

Gamma-ray bursts are the most violent and deadly things in the universe. They can also be caused by hypernovas.

Doomsday beams

When the death beams arrive they will burn all organic matter in fractions of a second. Everything that flies, walks or crawls will be reduced to charred, smoking husks almost instantaneously.

Deep caverns and tunnels will afford little little shelter, for after the gamma-ray burst comes the cosmic storm that will pummel Earth for days on end. The storm creates muons that can easily travel through buildings and solid rock. They will kill most sea creatures even far below the waves. If any humans survive the onslaught they will inherit a sterile world devoid of life.

The ragged stragglers will die-off soon after. The entire eco-system of Earth will be gone.

“The few who might survive will wish they had died,” Dar sighs, envisioning the horribly bleak picture. “They will struggle, forlornly, on a wrecked planet.”

Is there anyway to protect ourselves? Can the next cosmic catastrophe be predicted?

“Not with our current understanding of science,” says Dar, appearing very grim again.

New research has revealed that cosmic catatrophes are more common that once thought. All life on Earth was sterilized at least once some 700 million years after it emerged. Another 500 million years passed before life appeared again. Since that time—during the ensuing billions of years—mass extinctions have wiped out from one-third to nearly all life many times.

Cosmic catastrophes come in various forms. Some are more deadly and life-ending than others. A nearby star going nova, the sun suddenly shrinking and expelling a shell of intense, deadly radiation, a massive moon-sized asteroid colliding with Earth…all of these are catastrophes that could kill off the human race, even all life on Earth.

Dr. Immanuel Velikovsky believed cosmic catastrophes cause more massive worldwide destruction and happen much more frequently than most scientists think:
