FBI Claims To 'Dismantle' Anonymous, Anons Respond by Dumping FBI Data

Soon after FBI claims about having dismantled hacker organization Anonymous, Anons dumped large amounts of data that appears to have been stolen from FBI servers, according to the Global Post on Wednesday.
Today, Anonymous was out in full force with Americans across the nation who were protesting Bradley Manning’s sentencing by the U.S. military junta and demanding that Barack Obama pardon the whistleblower.
Peoples’ Ops Versus 1%er Ops
“The movement is still there, and they’re still yacking on Twitter and posting things, but you don’t hear about these guys coming forward with those large breaches,” Austin P. Berglas, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s cyber division, told the Huffington Post.
“It’s just not happening, and that’s because of the dismantlement of the largest players,” he boasted.
Despite FBI arrests, however, large-scale Anonymous operations have continued. As recently as July, Anons made public information stolen from a server used by FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Earlier this year, OpLastResort infiltrated servers used by the Federal Reserve, Department of Justice and several other financial and law enforcement agencies.
“The idea that they can take out a few people ‘at the top’ and treat them badly and then people will be scared is just asinine,” said Gregg Housh, an internet freedom activist formerly associated with Anonymous. “There is no leadership. There can’t be. That is the point of it all. That is why things like OpLastResort happen after all of these ‘big arrests.’
“For those reasons it is absolutely ridiculous to say that Anon’s leadership has been dismantled,” Housh said.

No, they did not respond to the statement. Headline is misleading, to make us believe in the power of Anonymous. While they may indeed exert force in the cyber arena, the FBI quote was from an article TODAY, and the references are to server attacks that happened in the past, before the FBI quote.
I’m not even debating the “for” or “against” Anonymous, or whether they are good or bad (perhaps they’re both). I’m just saying don’t try to sway me with deceptive practices. I saw these same maneuvers in your recent New Orleans race article. Just stay out of it and tell it like it is.
Ah, I see what you’re saying. So I’ll revise my previous post. The attack on the FBI server happened in January. Someone’s been sitting on it and released it in response to the “dismantlement” claims by the FBI spokesperson. Yes, this would make your headline more accurate.
