Brown Leaves Raiders Camp Yet Again; and GM Mayock is Not Happy About It

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Raiders were left looking around yet again for Antonio Brown Sunday after he left camp, and this time his General Manager is speaking out – and he doesn’t sound happy.

Mike Mayock said Sunday that Brown’s leaving camp Sunday was once again due to being denied use of his helmet, and Mayock said that it’s ‘put up or shut up’ time for Brown.

“You all know that AB is not here today, right?” Mayock said Sunday afternoon.

“So, here’s the bottom line — he’s upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that, we appreciate that. But at this point, we’ve pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief.

“So, from our perspective, it’s time for him to be all-in or all-out, OK? So, we’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails, we are really excited about where this franchise is going and we hope AB’s going to be a big part of it, starting Week 1 against Denver. End of story. No questions, OK? Just wanted you guys to know where we were. Fair?”

Mayock is in the right to be ticked off, as Brown not being at camp for most of the summer is getting old, and the club is getting tired (already) of his act.

Brown had the cryotherapy accident back in July that landed him on the non-football injury list, and also is throwing a fit because he can’t wear his Schutt Air Advantage helmet, no longer certified by the league.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden spoke about the helmet fiasco briefly after the Arizona preseason game Saturday, and he too sounds like he’s grown tired of the saga.

“I’m not talking about it anymore,” Gruden said.

“It was a legal, certified helmet, you know? Somebody approved it, or he wouldn’t have worn it.”
