I’m adding SCU’s Rich Hoffman to my list of new ufologists, who bring to the UFO table an openness and civil approach to how UFOs should be discussed and examined or investigated.

In the past – recent past also – the UFO topic has been maligned by persons full of bile and bias, people hoping to score points in their insane desire to be top dogs in the crazy, irrelevant world of flying saucers (UFOs).

But a new breed of UFO participants are entering the scene and bringing bonhomie to the ufological table.

This guerre-to-cheer allows discussions about UFOs to take wing as it were, where all “explanations” are not scoffed at and persons trying to determine what the UFO enigma is all about are not laughed off the stage without a polite hearing.

In my UFO circle there have always been a small troup of gracious listeners and participants: Nick Redfern, Paul Kimball, “Kandinsky,” Caravaca, Sentes, MJ Banias, and visitor here, Daniel, a Myshkin-type if there ever was one.

These fellows, a bit older than the “millennial-like” fellows touted above, offer perspectives that enlighten rather than harrow, which adds substance to what the new breed provides.

Let’s hope that people (like me) and a few rabid skeptics don’t attempt to tarnish the UFO new wave.

It’s a trend that sparkles with freshness and verve, making some of us feel good about the topic of our dreams (or nightmares).
