Delta Waterfowl Joins Board of the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports

Washington, D.C. – -(AmmoLand.com)- The Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports announces the addition of Delta Waterfowl to its Board of Directors. Established in 2009, the Council was formed to ensure support for and active participation in hunting and the shooting sports. In the past decade, the Council has evolved as a leader in a national movement to recruit, retain and reactivate (R3) more hunters and target shooters.

“Like many of the Council Board Members, Delta Waterfowl has demonstrated a strong commitment to the recruitment, retention and reactivation of hunters, and has continued to build upon their R3 efforts in recent years,” commented Council CEO and President John Frampton.

Delta Waterfowl’s First Hunt, a successful waterfowl-specific hunter recruitment program in North America, has introduced more than 68,000 people to waterfowl hunting since 2003. Delta also offers a University Hunting Program for non-hunting wildlife students, delivers a Mentor Recognition Program celebrating hunter recruitment, and provides First-Duck Pins to successful new hunters.

“The Duck Hunters Organization is honored to become a Council Board Member,” said Dr. Scott Petrie, Delta Waterfowl’s CEO/chief scientific officer. “This is a natural fit, because Delta Waterfowl shares the Council’s passion for R3, and has been researching and delivering innovative R3 solutions for many years.”

Petrie has selected Joel Brice, Delta’s vice president of waterfowl and hunter recruitment programs, to serve as the organization’s liaison to the Council Board. Brice has advanced Delta’s work to secure the future of duck hunting since 2001.

Delta Waterfowl joins a wide-ranging group of Council Board Members, which include fish and wildlife agencies, hunting and shooting industry partners, and conservation organizations.

“It is an exciting time in the conservation realm as we move forward, together, to find better solutions to recruit new participants and keep them active in hunting and target shooting,” Frampton said. “The energy that Delta exhibits is contagious, and the Council looks forward to working with Delta and the rest of its Board of Directors to forge collaborative paths forward for the betterment of hunting and target shooting in America.”
