Have you heard some of the latest travel news regarding the cruise industry? Many cruise lines are making headlines as they continue to build more and more ships.

Here is some of the biggest cruise news that you may not have heard about yet.

Holland America Cruise Line
Holland America Cruises continues to enhance their commitment to live music at sea by partnering with Rolling Stones to open a Rolling Stone Rock room.  The venue will feature a live band playing the greatest hits from four decades of classic rock. It will also feature its own themed drink menu.  The Rolling Stones Rock room will debut on the Nieuw Statendam and the Koningsdam.

Carnival Line’s Largest Ship Going To Port Canaveral 
Recently, an agreement was reached with the Canaveral Port Authority to build an additional terminal for Carnival’s largest ever cruise ship. The ship hasn’t been named yet, but it will be 180,000 gross tons and will have the capacity to carry 5,286 passengers. The ship is expected to hit the waters in 2020. Itineraries for it haven’t been announced yet, but are expected to be released in 2019. What we do know about it is that it’s supposed to have never before attractions and features that will be groundbreaking. Currently, Carnival Cruise Line has three ships that are sailing year round from Port Canaveral. This equates to about 15% of the cruise traffic at this port.

Norwegian Cruise Line
Norwegian Cruises 2019 will bring their new Norwegian Encore cruise ship debuting in November 2019.  This is the 4th and final ship in the popular Breakaway plus class.  The new hull design was announced by Spanish artist Eduardo Arranz-Bravo and will feature a colorful, abstract hull.  A representation of his modern and abstract style, the ship’s hull will feature a labyrinth of color inspired by Arranz-Bravo’s life by the sea in Barcelona and pay tribute to the vibrant guest experience Norwegian is known for.  Norwegian Encore cruise ship is currently being built at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. At approximately 167,800 gross tons, she will offer seven-day cruises to the Eastern Caribbean from Miami beginning November 17, 2019 through April 12, 2020.

Seabourn To Offer Record World Cruise In 2020
Seabourn Cruises recently announced that it will be offering the longest cruise in history. It will be setting sail on January 4 2020 out of Miami and then will end it’s voyage on May 28, 2020 in San Francisco. In total the ship will stop in 36 countries along 5 continents at 62 different ports. Destinations will include Africa, Asia, Australia, the Pacific Islands and South America. This voyage will take place on the Seabourn Sojourn and will be the first world cruise that Seabourn has offered in six years.

Viking River Cruises Adopts Adults-Only Policy
Not every cruise passenger has kids or wants to deal with them running around onboard. Viking Ocean Cruises is trying to cater to these types of passengers and are now only offering cruises to those that are 18 years of age or older. However, for those that are going on a Viking river cruise, the minimum age is still 12 or older.

Samantha Brown Named Godmother For AmaMagna
AmaWaterways River Cruises just announced that their megaship, the AmaMagna will be finally getting a godmother. Samantha Brown, the world famous travel television host, will be receiving this honor. The announcement was made by co-owner of AmaWaterways, Kristin Karst, at the American Society of Travel Advisors Global Convention. Samantha Brown currently hosts a show on PBS called, “Samantha Brown’s Place to Love.”  In total, she has about 17 years experience on TV and in the travel industry.
