War On Iran Preparations By Congress
Hawkish Republicans and Democrats in Congress are working right now to start a war against Iran, using Israel, according to their actions on Capitol Hill related to an act with a misleading title and a peace group there trying to prevent this.
“I’m starting to think some senators are crazy enough to want a war with Iran,” stated Rebecca Griffin, Political Director of Peace Action West in a written statement on Monday. ”How else do you explain the 33 senators who are cosponsoring a bill that could be so damaging to negotiations that President Obama has already threatened to veto it?”
Griffin is referring to the Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act that congressional leaders are pushing, an act that supports Israel attacking Iran.
“The misleadingly titled Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act is a grab bag of horrible ideas slammed by experts on Iran.” [See: http://nsnetwork.org/12774/] It includes more sanctions against Iran, fuel for violence and death.
More unnecessary and deadly sanctions against Iran, at the worst possible time, would be bad enough.
“The bill also puts forward unrealistic demands for Iran’s nuclear program and states that the US would support an Israeli attack,” Griffin said.
This recklessness is bipartisan with 19 Republicans and 14 Democrats having already co-sponsored the horrendous bill. [See: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/s1881]
“We’re on Capitol Hill right now urging senators to oppose this bill. Give us the power to hold them accountable by sending a message to your senators now,” Griffin urges.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, leader of the Iranian negotiating team, made it clear how damaging these these Congressional efforts are.
“Some people are wedded to the idea that pressure will produce results. They are wrong. Pressure has produced 18,000 centrifuges in Iran. So if they want to continue that road — it is open to them, but it doesn’t produce any results.”
Griffin responded, It’s outrageous that these senators are willing to jeopardize a chance for a peaceful resolution and put us on a path toward war.
With the Senate coming back to work this week, hawkish groups are bombarding them with pressure to support this bill.
Tell your senators not to be responsible for another disastrous war. Take action.

War is already going on there. The media spins it so no one really knows what’s going on.
Thank you, Anonymous. The US has killed hundreds of thousands with sanctions already. Yes, it’s a hidden war. another crime against humanity Americans pay for with their tax dollars.

Iran has been living under US imposed sanctions for over 30 years. Legislators have been justifying these sanctions by claiming that they will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and will punish and correct human rights violations in Iran. In reality, sanctions are creating human rights violations.
Senator Robert Mendez [D-NJ] and Senator Mark Kirk [R- IL] are pushing legislation that would increase sanctions against Iran and increase the possibility of US military intervention despite current negotiations that would decrease sanctions.
An Op-Ed published yesterday in the Minnesota Star Tribune points out that “Without a significant public out-cry, support for this sanctions bill could potentially reach a veto-proof majority of 67 Senators and 290 Representatives in the House.”
But we still have time to stop it.
Please, call your Senator today and tell them you cannot support legislation that will only cause more suffering for ordinary people in Iran.

According to Kate Gould, FCNL’s Legislative Associate for Middle East Policy, the strongest point for members of congress is that this piece of legislation risks sabotaging the historic first-step nuclear deal and prospects of once and for all resolving the stand-off over Iran’s nuclear program. Instead it could push us closer to war.
If we could get congress to pass a law that forces children(offspring) of congressmen/women who vote for war, sending THEIR sons and daughters IMMEDIATELY to the front lines, this crap would stop overnight.( Unless the vote had a 90% approval by both branches of congress)
