Razor Ventures Out Into The Xbox 360 World
Razer have announced that they are in the process of creating two Xbox 360 peripherals. This breaks their usual habit of creating hardware for the PC, which should be interesting if the project gets the go ahead from Microsoft. Not just that, but this will also mean that other gaming hardware producers, such as Roccat and Logitech, might produce console hardware in the future. Only time will tell. For now though we are given designs of two pieces of hardware, the Onza and the Chimaera. The Onza is the controller, which is wired rather than wireless and has multi function buttons (which sit below the bumpers and above the triggers) that can be mapped to any action button, auto fire or otherwise. Also apparent from the design is the illuminated edge which will stay lit as long as the controller is connected to the console.
The Chimaera on the other hand is a gaming headset which includes 5.1 channel virtual surround sound, a very sleek design and a ‘Daisy-chain’ cable system which allows for multiple headsets to be connected together for a private chat channel.
Both of these products have unconfirmed release dates but the pricing of both products is $49.99/€44.99 and $129.99/€109.99 for the Onza and Chimaera respectively. It should be interesting to see the impact this has on the console gaming community and how this influences other manufacturers and if they too will develop console peripherals of this caliber.
