To Win Wars, We Must Fight to Win

We are Losing in Afghanistan

I agree totally with Major General Paul E. Vallely’s article on “Afghanistan Getting Worse—Reposition Our Forces.” The Army should promote the good colonel he talks about to four stars, give him command of the War, provide all the resources he needs, and give him a mandate to win it within 10 months. If the politicians stayed out of his way, I am positive he would accomplish that mission. He would clean house, streamline the process, and focus the brass on winning instead of preparing PowerPoint (PP) charts and status. No PP charts ever won a war! Weapons, warfighters, a good strategy, and guts are the four pillars that win wars. We have three of the four pillars in Afghanistan—except a winning strategy. Screw political correctness (PC) and personal computers (PCs) to make those stupid PP charts.

We have had nice, politically adept generals in Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower, Colin Powell, and now David Petraeus. However, we need generals like George S. Patton, Jr., to win the war. General Petraeus banned Fox News from Afghanistan to keep his boss, the president of the United States (POTUS) and commander-in-chief (CINC), happy. That is simply political B.S.! Ike would never have become POTUS if he did not bask in the results of Patton in the European Theater and MacArthur in the Pacific Theater.

President Harry Truman made the right decisions on dropping the A-bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. However, if Truman had allowed MacArthur to go over the Yalu River and attack China (as MacArthur wanted to) instead of firing him, we would not have had some of the problems we currently struggle with in the Far East. Dumb move by Truman.

Patton wanted to fight the Russians after the end of the war in Europe. However, Truman and Ike did not allow that to happen. Another dumb move. Thus, we had to deal with 50 years of Cold War against the Soviet Union until Ronald Reagan caused the Soviet Union to implode.

If George H. W. Bush went into Baghdad to capture it during the first Gulf War, his son, George W. Bush (GWB), would not have needed to go back in there with a “first strike” attack on Iraq. Two more dumb moves. We would not have wasted all those deaths of our warfighters that occurred between then and now. When are we ever going to learn?

I could go on and on but will quit here. Our current generals do not know how to fight and win wars because they must serve with a pussycat of a CINC who is causing grave damage to our country. We need to make changes in the leadership of our country soon.

Counterinsurgency

Counterinsurgency only works with Christian nations. When you deal with Islam, victory is either going to be them or us. I choose us. When push comes to shove, here is the solution to the problem. Discard the Geneva Convention. Take no prisoners. Ignore collateral damage. Use tactical nukes. Kill or be killed. Win at all cost. Counterinsurgency is for pussycats. When you deal with a rabid wildcat, there is only one solution to reduce the threat. Eradicate it.

The Ending of a “Dumb War”

Barack Obama called the War in Iraq a “dumb war.” The only thing worse than a dumb war is a dumb POTUS who does not listen to his military advisors. Anyone who unilaterally pulls out of the Iraq War and declares by edict that the combat mission is over is simply fooling himself. The combat war is not over, and it will continue for a long time going forward. Dumb move.

A United States warfighter said that nothing has changed. The terminology has changed, but it will be business as usual in Iraq. The war goes on. I thought nobody could surpass the slogan “Mission Accomplished” in stupidity. However, a declaration that “the combat mission in Iraq is over” tops it in dumbness (news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/20100831/pl_mcclatchy/3612920_1).

The United States puts its figurative tail between its hind legs and hightail it out of there. How will the rest of the world see it when and if we need to send our combat troops back in after the Iraq War re-escalates? Weak. If we do not send our combat troops back in there when needed, there will be killing fields in Iraq as we had in South East Asia after we lost that war. This time, it will not be George Bush’s fault. The fault will lie squarely in the lap of Barack Hussein Obama for changing the course of that war.

Political Correctness

It is interesting to note that a person found it difficult to sort out exactly who wrote what in my article titled “MG Paul E. In the beginning, I started by summarizing MG Paul Vallely’s article, which was followed by my thoughts. I wrote it in a very clear manner as to who wrote which part of the article. The person was overly concerned with political correctness (PC). I despise PC. Political correctness will cause us to lose wars. In a final, all-out world war, we must discard PC, or we will lose that final war.

In an all-out war with our defeat as a high probability, at that point, I do not believe in taking any prisoners. From that point forward, my policy would be to “take no prisoners.” Kill all enemy combatants on sight. As General George S. Patton said, “We won’t just shoot the bastards, but rip out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks.”  Where is General Patton when we need him?

I think the worst mistake ever made was the decision to have “imbedded reporters” with our warfighters in combat. The imbedded reporters, with their own hidden agendas and desire for personal aggrandizement, reported on things they should never have reported, which created many problems for the military. With the traitors we have in Congress, those weasels would take and run with the information from these treasonous imbedded reporters and make mountains out of molehills—again just for personal aggrandizement. Hence, I do not believe in imbedded reporters.

I do want you to know that I love all Marines—because a young Marine saved me from drowning when I was around 10 years old. I would not be here today if it was not for that Marine lifesaver—and I do not even know his name. Therefore, the person above is a retired Marine who is okay in my book—even if he may cling to some PC shackles.

Patton

Throughout the years, I have repeatedly watched the movie titled “Patton.” I believe he was the greatest battlefield commander during World War II. If it were not for General George S. Patton, Jr., we all would be speaking the German language. If it were not for General Douglas MacArthur in the Pacific War, we all would also be speaking the Japanese language. I am an American of Japanese Ancestry (AJA), yet I cannot speak or understand Japanese. Go figure!
