I remember during Hurricane Andrew living in homestead that the sustains winds were over 100mph but wind gusts were over 200mph as well as having tornadoes within the storm. It sounded like a train coming through the house and what I didn’t realize beforehand is that our ears would pop like in a plane from the pressure. Our brand new home was demolished so we bulldozed what was left and rebuilt. Cat 5 are no joke. I’ll never forget Hurricane Andrew and looking at this footage brings back memories to where I can’t help but get choked up.

Just like they did after 911 when they showed Arabs happy and cheering. Of course, the actual footage was from months before 911 and had nothing to do with it. I’ve lived on the east coast for 57 years. Seen a lot of hurricanes. I’m seeing 60 mph winds and high water. In 185 mph sustained winds there wouldn’t be anyone left to shoot video. Just my opinion.

There are definitely gusts upwards of 180-225, I have been chasing hurricanes for a few years as well as working with storm restoration companies. It’s not a consistent thrust of 180 or 225, but gusts do reach those levels. Especially in a CAT 5 storm.

Next time your driving down the highway. Run it up to 80-110 mph then stick your head out the window….. I’ve been thru five, these things and they are no joke!! When a band is coming thru you hunker down!!! These videos are in between the bands , or in the eye. It’s what I had to do during Harvey and Ike . That’s why the winds seem so minor. This storm is really compact , so there’s very little time between bands. Also one side of the island will have massive damage and the other should fare better due to storm surge. 🙏✌️

I have lived in the midwest and experienced Tornados (North Texas Panhandle)… they are much more frightening… sounds like an out of control freight train! I often refer to Weather Underground (wunderground.com) for weather info. According to them, Hurricane Dorian is currently a Category 4 storm. That’s a sustained wind speed of 130 to 156 miles per hour.
I lived through Andrew. 180 mph winds bend palm trees over and completely strip them of frawns. Sure the storm surge caused a lot of damage but I’m not seeing the wind damage the likes of hurricane Andrew.

ALL concerned should know about it and its use, or how to help others into it, etc etc One that can transport you and yours over the water you live near to an area less dangerous and more ‘lively’ (Pun intended ).Should occasion arise.. I wish I had a flash light works terrible in the pitch black of night. Right up there with I wish I had the 6 winning lotto numbers. Or maybe a gun when your being shot at? Wish REAL HARD! Land looks close to a drowning man, surely. No one would yell ” WISH HARDER” USELESS. Useless wishing. Wishing praying and hoping only leave you wishing and hoping and praying. PERIOD. Just a thought on how most seem after any tragedy or natural disaster. Natural or otherwise. More needy than should be if they prepared. AT ALL! Most apoarently don’t or will not. True some can not, but that’s a minority. Noticed it all my life, others acting like you’ll be their anchor to outweigh their ineptitude or lack of prior planning. Someone else will save me dangerous stinkin thinkin. THEIR lack of planning is now your emergency? You may choose to help, but you could be helping another if they’d have done something for themselves ANY time before now. It’s ok to help others, sure. NOT ok to ask others to risk their life and possibly everyones lives to drag you to safety over your failures to plan and then hold a grudge when they are busy helping themselves or following through with a safety plan for them or their family to survive. And LITERALLY may not have planned for you. Maybe they can help, maybe not. If not your screwed. Dead lost or destitude may not have had to be your outcome. How about some PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and planning ahead on an individual basis. Its ok to rely on others less & self 1st. Takes very little to assure most things are addressed. Monitarily. It mostly takes the will to do so for YOURSELF. You can’t help anyone when your needs are so at hand. Sure you’d help someone drowning …….. if you weren’t in the pool with them it might matter. YOU really want to help, keep yourself safe so you can be there for others. Help others to understand that. Whatever your partucular home demographic…. In this example.. A Father prepares and protects, so mother is 100% safe as can be. As can be. Then… Maybe…. Mother is then able to protect her children within reasonable assurites. With AVAILABLE resources/skill/knowledge at hand. Physically & mentally PREPARED. Much can’t be completely covered, what ifs?? Ok. However, positively.. Much can be relegated to I’ve done all I can to prepare, and that brings peace on it. You’ll LITERALLY be able to do all you really can at the time of need. Not have to worry IF you could have prepped better and mees up while its happening, hoping wishing and praying. A Weight off, Yolk free assurity peace on it ALL. At least talk about things and have a basic resource & action plan. Not rocket science. Rockets don’t fly without fuel and prepperations. Neither will your plan to live or your hopes of it without fuel nor preparations.

My memory of Hurricane Andrew includes patches of destruction that seemed even worse than the surrounding catastrophe. I believe that tornadoes occur within hurricane events, and if so, perhaps the 225 mph clocking is accurate. Can you look into that?

The storm was packing sustained 185 as it made landfall in the bahamas, your checking the windspeeds after it had significantly weakened. The destruction in the Bahamas is right on par with 185 MPH winds.
You have not acknowledged seeing IN TRUTH BY GRACE’S video showing it is not hurricane force wind.
