Amazing Story From a Flight Attendant on Delta Flight 15 on 9-11

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Sometimes all we need on a bad day is a good story; this is from Air Canada Retiree’s newsletter.

On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001 we were about 5 hours

out of Frankfurt, flying over the North Atlantic. All of a sudden the

curtains parted and I was told to go to the cockpit, immediately, to

 see the captain.

As soon as I got there I noticed that the crew had that “All Business”

look on their faces. The captain handed me a printed message. It was

from Delta’s main office in Atlanta and simply read, “All airways over

the Continental United States are closed to commercial air traffic.

Land ASAP at the nearest airport. Advise your destination.” No one

said a word about what this could mean. We knew it was a serious

situation and we needed to find terra firma quickly. The captain

determined that the nearest airport was 400 miles behind us in Gander,

Newfoundland. He requested approval for a route change from the

Canadian traffic controller and approval was granted immediately – no

questions asked. We found out later, of course, why there was no

 hesitation in approving our request.

While the flight crew prepared the airplane for landing, another message arrived from Atlanta telling us about some terrorist activity in the New York area. A few minutes later word came in about the hijackings We decided to LIE to the passengers while we were still in the air. We told them the plane had a simple instrument problem and that we needed to land at the nearest airport in *Gander,

Newfoundland*, to have it checked out. We promised to give more information after landing in Gander. There was much grumbling among the passengers, but that’s nothing new! Forty minutes later, we landed in Gander. Local time at Gander was 12:30 PM, that’s 11:00 AM EST.

There were already about 20 other airplanes on the ground from all

over the world that had taken this detour on their way to the

U.S. After we parked on the ramp, the captain made the following

announcement: “Ladies and gentlemen, you must be wondering if all

these airplanes around us have the same instrument problem as we have. The

reality is that we are here for another reason.” Then he went on to

explain the little bit we knew about the situation in the U.S. There

were loud gasps and stares of disbelief. The captain informed

passengers that Ground control in Gander told us to stay put. The

Canadian Government was in charge of our situation and no one was

allowed to get off the aircraft. No one on the ground was allowed to

come near any of the aircraft. Only airport police would come around

periodically, look us over and go on to the next airplane. In the next

hour or so more planes landed and Gander ended up with 53 airplanes

from all over the world, 27 of which were U.S. commercial jets.

Meanwhile, bits of news started to come in over the aircraft radio and

for the first time we learned that airplanes were flown into the World

Trade Center in New York and into the Pentagon in DC. People were

trying to use their cell phones, but were unable to connect due to a

different cell system in Canada. Some did get through, but were only

able to get to the Canadian operator who would tell them that the

lines to the U.S. were either blocked or jammed. Sometime in the

evening the news filtered to us that the World Trade Center buildings

had collapsed and that a fourth hijacking had resulted in a crash. By

now the passengers were emotionally and physically exhausted, not to

mention frightened, but everyone stayed amazingly calm.

We had only to look out the window at the 52 other stranded aircraft

to realize that we were not the only ones in this predicament. We had

been told earlier that they would be allowing people off the planes

one plane at a time. At 6 PM, Gander airport told us that our turn to

deplane would be 11am the next morning. Passengers were not happy, but

they simply resigned themselves to this news without much noise and

started to prepare themselves to spend the night on the airplane.

Gander had promised us medical attention, if needed, water, and

lavatory servicing, and they were true to their word. Fortunately, we

had no medical situations to worry about. We did have a young lady who

was 33 weeks into her pregnancy. We took REALLY good care of her. The night passed without incident despite the uncomfortable sleeping arrangements. About 10:30 on the morning of the 12th a convoy of  school buses showed up. We got off the plane and were taken to the terminal where we went through Immigration and Customs and then had to register with the Red Cross. After that we (the crew) were separated from the passengers and were taken in vans to a hotel. We had no idea where our passengers were going. We learned from the Red Cross that the town of Gander has a population of 10,400 people and they had about 10,500 passengers to take care of from all the airplanes that were forced into Gander ! We were told to just relax at the hotel and we would be contacted when the U.S. airports opened again, but not to

expect that call for a while. We found out the total scope of the

terror back home only after getting to our hotel and turning on the

TV, 24 hours after it all started.

Meanwhile, we had lots of time on our hands and found that the people

of Gander were extremely friendly. They started calling us the “plane

people.” We enjoyed their hospitality, explored the town of Gander and

ended up having a pretty good time. Two days later, we got that call

and were taken back to the Gander airport. Back on the plane, we were

reunited with the passengers and found out what they had been doing

for the past two days. What we found out was incredible. Gander and

all the surrounding communities (within MATCH about a 75 Kilometer

radius) had closed all high schools, meeting halls, lodges, and any

other large gathering places. They converted all these facilities to

mass lodging areas for all the stranded travelers. Some had cots set

up, some had mats with sleeping bags and pillows set up.

ALL the high school students were required to volunteer their time to

take care of the “guests.” Our 218 passengers ended up in a town

called Lewisporte, about 45 kilometers from Gander where they were put

up in a high school. If any women wanted to be in a

women-only facility, that was arranged. Families were kept together.

All the elderly passengers were taken to private homes. Remember that

young pregnant lady? She was put up in a private home right across the

street from a 24-hour Urgent Care facility. There was a dentist on

call and both male and female nurses remained with the crowd for the

duration. Phone calls and e-mails to the U.S. and around the world

were available to everyone once a day. During the day, passengers were

offered “Excursion” trips. Some people went on boat cruises of the

lakes and harbors. Some went for hikes in the local forests. Local

bakeries stayed open to make fresh bread for the guests. Food was

prepared by all the residents and brought to the schools. People were

driven to restaurants of their choice and offered wonderful meals.

Everyone was given tokens for local laundry mats to wash their

clothes, since luggage was still on the aircraft. In other words,

every single need was met for those stranded travelers. Passengers

were crying while telling us these stories.

Finally, when they were told that U.S. airports had reopened, they

were delivered to the airport right on time and without a single

passenger missing or late. The local Red Cross had all the information

about the whereabouts of each and every passenger and knew which plane

they needed to be on and when all the planes were leaving. They

coordinated everything beautifully. It was absolutely incredible. When

passengers came on board, it was like they had been on a cruise.

Everyone knew each other by name. They were swapping stories of their

stay, impressing each other with who had the better time. Our flight

back to Atlanta looked like a chartered party flight. The crew just

stayed out of their way. It was mind-boggling. Passengers had totally

bonded and were calling each other by their first names, exchanging

phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses.

1And then a very unusual thing happened. One of our passengers

approached me and asked if he could make an announcement over the PA

system. We never, ever allow that. But this time was different. I said

”of course” and handed him the mike. He picked up the PA and reminded

everyone about what they had just gone through in the last few days.

He reminded them of the hospitality they had received at the hands of

total strangers. He continued by saying that he would like to do

something in return for the good folks of Lewisporte. “He said he was

going to set up a Trust Fund under the name of DELTA 15 (our flight

number). The purpose of the trust fund is to provide college

scholarships for the high school students of Lewisporte. He asked for

donations of any amount from his fellow travelers. When the paper with

donations got back to us with the amounts, names, phone numbers and

addresses, the total was for more than $14,000! “The gentleman, a MD

from Virginia, promised to match the donations and to start the

administrative work on the scholarship. He also said that he would

forward this proposal to Delta Corporate and ask them to donate as

well. As I write this account, the trust fund is at more than $1.5

million and has assisted 134 students in college education.

“I just wanted to share this story because we need good stories right

now. It gives me a little bit of hope to know that some people in a

faraway place were kind to some strangers who literally dropped in on

them. It reminds me how much good there is in the world. In spite of

all the rotten things we see going on in today’s world this story

confirms that there are still a lot of good and Godly people in the

world and when things get bad, they will come forward.

“God Bless America… and God Bless the Canadians.”

      DEAR UPCHUCK:

Jesuits do not own CNN, FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, THE BBC and ALL THE OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS, A DIFFERENT TRIBE DOES and if you were correct about JESUITS, the truth about 911 would have been told from DAY ONE.

That all sounds great. Individual people don’t want wars. Just think how people get along at large free concerts in a park, or how well they get along if a natural disaster strikes their town. Everyone helps everyone else. Your experience on the grounded airplane is right along the same lines. It’s Governments that want wars. It makes the Elitists rich. They don’t care about the deaths of ‘Useless Eaters’, as they refer to the rest of us. In fact, they want most of us to die. The goal is to have a population at or under half a billion.
We now have over 7 billion ‘Useless Eaters’. Of course, the Real ‘Useless Eaters’ are those who worship materialism, money and power, and who also want the rest of us dead. But since they Have all the money, they can dictate what happens to the rest of us.
The thing that is the saddest about 911 is the fact that those 3000 civilians were murdered and there is a preponderance of evidence which shows that Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US worked together on this. In short: 911 WAS an inside job.
Please, if you don’t believe me; explain how WTC number 7 went down at 5:20PM eastern time at the speed of free-fall that same afternoon (9-11). That means, the entire building landed in its own footprint within a few seconds, at the speed of a free-fall. No airplane hit that building.
Nobody can rig a building for demolition in one day. It takes weeks, if not longer. Someone knew about this. Ask questions and please research WTC 7. (By the way, the man in charge of security for the WTC complex was none other than Marvin Bush, (of THE Bush cabal!).
The owner of the WTC complex, (Larry Silverstein), bought the place merely months before the big false flag. Weeks before the big false flag, he bought a terrorism policy which paid 4.5 billion per building. He had to sue to get the other 4.5 billion because he said, afterall, there were 2 attacks, not one.
The only thing Larry Silverstein said about WTC 7 was…”Pull It!” and that occurred at about 5:19. Research it yourself; don’t believe me.
Bottom line is: how do we deal with this truth? What are we going to do about it? Can we fix this country peacefully?

Swiftly; justice; I don’t know; I hope we can, but they will not give it back without a fight, imo.

Interesting story ! On 9/11. I was home sleeping in after my first day off in months opening a business with a partner. I had slept in and decided upon waking to sit on the couch and enjoy a cell phone no computer afternoon. My business partner had called me on my house phone and asked if I could stop by our pizzeria and help him put some inventory away and said it was busy because they had sent kids home from school.

He made no mention to why and I did not think of asking. As a resident right outside of Pittsburgh, I turned on the radio on my drive. They were discussing a plane crash in Shanksville. I felt bad for the people, but had no Idea of the rest of the story.

As I arrive at the business, there are people standing around outside and inside with solemn faces. I asked “why is everybody acting so odd” . They proceeded to tell me and said to go next door and watch the TV. I was shocked but my inner senses said “Another Pearl Harbor”.

Later that evening, I had stopped in the local bar. People were just off their rockers. Screaming that us guys in our later 30s should be joining the military etc. Crazy day

Near the end of the month, I had attended a private party at a closed bar beneath a small hotel that still rented rooms. Our of nowhere ended up a table of young guys of Arab descent. They happened to be attending the Pittsburgh school of Aeronautics. We were really freaked out. The FBI was already there weeks prior just to interview.

I ended up staying upstairs in the hostesses families apartment and she offered me her brothers room. It turns out, he was a pilot and on the walls were big posters of airplane cockpits . Yeesh, I didn’t sleep well.

My father use to fly International Ice Patrols in the USCG out of Gander back in the 1980′s, he ALWAYS spoke highly of that part of Canada. Wonderful people, beautiful country and always a pleasure to visit. I know he misses that place, he spoke a of a beautiful woman who’s name was Marilyn, I know he still misses her to this vary day. Just a short 4 line war story from my daddy.

    • WEthePEOPLE

Just another story that PROVES that 9/11 was planned years in advance, it was a VERY VERY sophisticated operation the sort that only the Western militaries could carry out. Clearly the 9/11 attack was a war game simulated operation that was used on the public for many purposes, surely one of the primary goals was to see how the public would react to a simulated operation. All 3 buildings did come down but they were planned implosions.
This story reminds us that Canada was also very heavily involved in the war games going on that day.

Checked it with snopes… and it is true… thank you for posting this.. .truly… thank you.

      Great story.
I can relate to this, in a way. I live in an area that has been known to experience terrible winters. Over the years my family have taken in strangers on multiple occasions. Sometimes for multiple days. The odd time I gave up my bed. Everyone that I know would have done the same. We’re all going to need help from somebody at some point, so try to help people when the opportunity presents itself. You might make a new friend, or at least have you’ll have a new story to tell. Helping those in need is good for all parties involved.

    • Болеслава

That was the response of just one of the fifty planes?

    • TrueAtheist

My Uncle originally wrote this and whoever reposted it, changed parts of it for some reason. I’m guessing to give it a religious twist.

What you people don’t realize is that the person who wrote this, he is from the Middle East. He was raised as a Muslim. He’s been living in the US for almost 50 years. He is not religious at all.

He is my uncle. He is an incredibly intelligent person. He is caring and kind. A wonderful husband to my aunt, a wonderful father to my cousins, and a wonderful uncle to me.

Here is what he actually wrote:

We were about 5 hours out of Frankfurt flying over the North Atlantic and I was in my crew rest seat taking my scheduled rest break. All of a sudden the curtains parted violently and I was told to go to the cockpit, right now, to see the captain. As soon as I got there I noticed that the crew had one of those “All Business” looks on their faces. The captain handed me a printed message. I quickly read the message and realized the importance of it. The message was from Atlanta, addressed to our flight, and simply said, “All airways over the Continental US are closed. Land ASAP at the nearest airport, advise your destination.”
Now, when a dispatcher tells you to land immediately without suggesting which airport, one can assume that the dispatcher has reluctantly given up control of the flight to the captain. We knew it was a serious situation and we needed to find terra firma quickly. It was quickly decided that the nearest airport was 400 miles away, behind our right shoulder, in Gander, on the island of New Foundland. A quick request was made to the Canadian traffic controller and a right turn, directly to Gander, was approved immediately. We found out later why there was no hesitation by the Canadian controller approving our request. We, the in-flight crew, were told to get the airplane ready for an immediate landing. While this was going on another message arrived from Atlanta telling us about some terrorist activity in the New York area.
We briefed the in-flight crew about going to Gander and we went about our business ‘closing down’ the airplane for a landing. A few minutes later I went back to the cockpit to find out that some airplanes had been hijacked and were being flown into buildings all over the US. We decided to make an announcement and LIE to the passengers for the time being. We told them that an instrument problem had arisen on the airplane and that we needed to land at Gander to have it checked. We promised to give more information after landing in Gander. There were many unhappy passengers but that is par for the course.
We landed in Gander about 40 minutes after the start of this episode. There were already about 20 other airplanes on the ground from all over the world. After we parked on the ramp the captain made the following announcement. “Ladies and gentlemen, you must be wondering if all these airplanes around us have the same instrument problem as we have. But the reality is that we are here for a good reason.” Then he went on to explain the little bit we knew about the situation in the US. There were loud gasps and stares of disbelief. Local time at Gander was 12:30 p.m. (11:00 a.m. EST) Gander control told us to stay put. No one was allowed to get off the aircraft. No one on the ground was allowed to come near the aircrafts. Only a car from the airport police would come around once in a while, look us over and go on to the next airplane. In the next hour or so all the airways over the North Atlantic were vacated and Gander alone ended up with 53 airplanes from all over the world, out of which 27 were flying US flags. We were told that each and every plane was to be off loaded, one at a time, with the foreign carriers given the priority. We were No.14 in the US category. We were further told that we would be given a tentative time to deplane at 6 p.m. Meanwhile bits of news started to come in over the aircraft radio and for the first time we learned that airplanes were flown into the World Trade Center in New York and into the Pentagon in DC. People were trying to use their cell phones but were unable to connect due to a different cell system in Canada. Some did get through but were only able to get to the Canadian operator who would tell them that the lines to the US were either blocked or jammed and to try again. Some time late in the evening the news filtered to us that the World Trade Center buildings had collapsed and that a fourth hijacking had resulted in a crash. Now the passengers were totally bewildered and emotionally exhausted but stayed calm as we kept reminding them to look around to see that we were not the only ones in this predicament.
There were 52 other planes with people on them in the same situation. We also told them that the Canadian Government was in charge and we were at their mercy. True to their word, at 6 p.m., Gander airport told us that our turn to deplane would come at 11 a.m., the next morning. That took the last wind out of the passengers and they simply resigned and accepted this news without much noise and really started to get into a mode of spending the night on the airplane.
Gander had promised us any and all medical attention if needed; medicine, water, and lavatory servicing. And they were true to their word. Fortunately we had no medical situation during the night. We did have a young lady who was 33 weeks into her pregnancy. We took REALLY good care of her. The night passed without any further complications on our airplane despite the uncomfortable sleeping arrangements. About 10:30 on the morning of the 12th we were told to get ready to leave the aircraft.
A convoy of school buses showed up at the side of the airplane, the stairway was hooked up and the passengers were taken to the terminal for “processing”. We, the crew, were taken to the same terminal but were told to go to a different section, where we were processed through Immigration and customs and then had to register with the Red Cross. After that we were isolated from our passengers and were taken in a caravan of vans to a very small hotel in the town of Gander. We had no idea where our passengers were going.
The town of Gander has a population of 10,400 people. Red Cross told us that they were going to process about 10,500 passengers from all the airplanes that were forced into Gander. We were told to just relax at the hotel and wait for a call to go back to the airport, but not to expect that call for a while. We found out the total scope of the terror back home only after getting to our hotel and turning on the TV, 24 hours after it all started. Meanwhile we enjoyed ourselves going around town discovering things and enjoying the hospitality. The people were so friendly and they just knew that we were the “Plane People”. We all had a great time until we got that call, 2 days later, on the 14th at 7 a.m. We made it to the airport by 8:30 a.m. and left for Atlanta at 12:30 p.m. arriving in Atlanta at about 4:30 p.m.. (Gander is 1 hour and 30 minutes ahead of EST, yes!, 1 hour and 30 minutes.)
But that’s not what I wanted to tell you. What passengers told us was so uplifting and incredible and the timing couldn’t have been better. We found out that Gander and the surrounding small communities, within a 75 Kilometer radius, had closed all the high schools, meeting halls, lodges, and any other large gathering places. They converted all these facilities to a mass lodging area. Some had cots set up, some had mats with sleeping bags and pillows set up. There were DDS on call and they had both male and female nurses available and stayed with the crowd for the duration. Phone calls and emails to US and Europe were available for everyone once a day. During the days the passengers were given a choice of “Excursion” trips. Some people went on boat cruises of the lakes and harbors. Some went to see the local forests. Local bakeries stayed open to make fresh bread for the guests. Food was prepared by all the residents and brought to the school for those who elected to stay put. Others were driven to the eatery of their choice and fed. They were given tokens to go to the local Laundromat to wash their clothes, since their luggage was still on the aircraft. In other words every single need was met for those unfortunate travelers. Passengers were crying while telling us these stories. After all that, they were delivered to the airport right on time and without a single one missing or late. All because the local Red Cross had all the information about the goings on back at Gander and knew which group needed to leave for the airport at what time. Absolutely incredible.
When passengers came on board, it was like they had been on a cruise. Everybody knew everybody else by their name. They were swapping stories of their stay, impressing each other with who had the better time. It was mind-boggling. Our flight back to Atlanta looked like a party flight. We simply stayed out of their way. The passengers had totally bonded and they were calling each other by their first names, exchanging phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses.
And then a strange thing happened. One of our business class passengers approached me and asked if he could speak over the PA to his fellow passengers. We never, never, allow that. But something told me to get out of his way. I said “of course”. The gentleman picked up the PA and reminded everyone about what they had just gone through in the last few days. He reminded them of the hospitality they had received at the hands of total strangers. He further stated that he would like to do something in return for the good folks of the town of Lewisporte. He said he was going to set up a Trust Fund under the name of DELTA 15 (our flight number). The purpose of the trust fund is to provide a scholarship for high school student(s) of Lewisporte to help them go to college. He asked for donations of any amount from his fellow travelers.
When the paper with donations got back to us with the amounts, names, phone numbers and addresses, it totaled to $14.5K or about $20K Canadian. The gentleman who started all this turned out to be an MD from Virginia. He promised to match the donations and to start the administrative work on the scholarship. He also said that he would forward this proposal to Delta Corporate and ask them to donate as well.
Why, all of this? Just because some people in far away places were kind to some strangers, who happened to literally drop in among them? WHY NOT?
